The CBA negotiations have been completely stalled at the moment. Back on January 9, 2026, the deadline extension expired for the third time. With the CBA deal falling flat, a WNBA insider recently revealed how the teams could lose out on venue bookings.
Moreover, the WNBPA also put the league on blast after the expiration of the deadline. After all, the players are largely adamant about their demands for equal and fair pay. Now, speaking to the grim situation, Breanna Stewart has always been a vocal advocate. And recently, she issued a cautious warning to all the WNBA athletes.

Breanna Stewart Asks WNBA Players Not To Sign A Contract
The league was rumored to be proposing a moratorium on the players. However, while it was all set to begin on Sunday, Stewart took prompt action. She immediately reached out to all her peers and cautioned them against signing any contracts at the moment.

Liberty star and WNBPA VP Breanna Stewart said the players' association and WNBA will not agree to another collective bargaining agreement extension after the deadline passes Friday.

Surely, along with Napheesa Collier, Stewart has been one of the prominent voices of the players’ ongoing movement. In fact, the entire CBA movement blew up after Collier publicly accused Cathy Engelbert of an alleged lack of accountability. Meanwhile, continuing to build pressure, Stewart recently made a bold statement in support of Adam Silver.
Breanna Stewart Goes Off On Adam Silver
While most of the WNBA realm has targeted Cathy Engelbert, it is worth noting that the NBA holds the majority stake in the WNBA. And this technically makes Adam Silver Engelbert’s boss. Unfortunately, to date, WNBA players have felt that Silver was not proactive enough in solving the problems.
Thus, taking matters into one’s own hands, Stewart lashed out at Silver, saying, “More often than not, we’re the ones that are willing to compromise, and they still aren’t budging. So if they’re not going to budge, we’re going to get to this point where we’re just going to be at a standoff. That’s kind of where we’re at right now. Adam and Mark need to come to the table, we’re more than happy to have that.”
