The Connecticut Sun has built a reputation for being a physical team in the WNBA. Three of the franchise players received multiple technical fouls, and two players received ejections. In the game against the Chicago Sky, the number went up for the team, with Bria Harley receiving both technical fouls and ejections for her altercation with Rebecca Allen.
Two bottom-placed teams faced each other at Mohegan Sun Arena on August 13. The game got intense after players looked to ‘do anything’ to win a loose ball.
Bria Hartley And Rebecca Allen Ejection From Game
Already a tense game – to avoid the rock-bottom finish. At home, the Connecticut team controlled the game right from the start. In the second quarter, with 6:35 remaining on the clock, two opposing players tried to collect a rebound. The Chicago forward went ahead and jockeyed for position under the basket.
In the process, she also pushed Hartley, who was in a defensive position. The Sun guard looked frustrated by the physical play and shoved Allen down to the ground. While falling down, the 32-year-old forward grabbed Hartley’s jersey.
Things got tipsy as both players tried to stand firm on their gameplay. Referees tried to separate the players, but more players got involved in the skirmish. Sky guard Ariel Atkins also jumped to her teammate’s defense and accidentally made contact with an official.

The officials ejected all three players, and the game continued thereafter. Angel Reese showed support for her teammate after the game. The friction was still visible in the game, but the players stayed within the limits to avoid further ejections. The Sun finished the game on a high note, holding off the Sky’s late surge and winning the game by a 171-62 scoreline.

Even though the win didn’t change their standings, it highlighted the Windy City team’s offensive struggle. They will face the Valkyries next, while the Sun will host the Indiana Fever on August 16.
Bria Hartley Sets Unwanted Record During Game Against Chicago Sky
The former UConn star returned to the WNBA after a two-season absence. She signed a training camp contract with the Sun and made it to the final roster before the start of the season. Putting up some strong performances, the star averages 9.2 points, two rebounds, and three assists per game.

But she also received two ejections in the 2025 season, including the one against the Sky. This is the most by any player in the league. Her first ejection came on July 23 against the Los Angeles Sparks, when the veteran guard received marching orders after receiving her second technical foul in the game. She has five technical fouls in total this season, only behind Angel Reese, who leads the league with seven technical fouls.
