The WNBA and WNBPA returned empty-handed from the February 2 meeting, with the league failing to produce a CBA proposal. Nneka Ogwumike slammed the league for the unsuccessful meeting, and now it’s a race against time for the league to complete the deal well before the upcoming season. For Brionna Jones, too, it’s a race against time as the player suffered an injury while playing in the EuroLeague game.
Jones played a crucial role for the Atlanta Dream in the 2025 season, leading them to the playoffs in a tight race. Her partnership with Brittney Griner and with the guard duo of Alisha Gray and Rhyne Howard helped the side throughout the season.

Brionna Joes To Undergo Surgery After Knee Injury
During the offseason, the former EuroLeague MVP chose to take her talent back to the continent and signed with USK Praha in the Czech Republic. Sadly, Jones tore her meniscus during a game in early February in a game against against Basket Ostrava, cutting her EuroLeague season short.
ESPN’s Alexa Philippou reported that the player will return to the States and undergo surgery. The All-Star is expected to recover by the May 8 season opener, subject to her rehab schedule.
This would be her second major injury as she missed a major part of the 2023 season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon. She played in just 13 games in that season.

The player made a huge impact joining the talented Dream team from the Connecticut Sun, and now she is a free agent once again. But her experience and performances so far already have admirers in the league who see her as a perfect fit in Texas.
Dallas Wings Targeting Brionna Jones In Free Agency
The Wings have the top pick in the WNBA draft and will look to boost their young core with another top talent from the available pool. While Azzi Fudd makes a strong case for being the no.1 pick as reunion possibilities with Paige Bueckers intensify, the franchise will look for some experience on the floor, too.
As per The New York Post’s Ben Pickman and Sabreena Merchant, the four-time All-Star will be the player who has shown her ability to marshal the paint and also impact the games with the help of a strong backcourt.
The analysts wrote, “Yet again, she made an All-Star team, and she found herself on the cusp of the All-WNBA conversation as well. Jones is among the league’s most efficient players and is impactful on both ends due to her offensive rebounding, screen-setting and post production. There’s no reason to suggest Atlanta won’t prioritize bringing her back in free agency, but she’d also be a frontcourt upgrade for Dallas if she looked elsewhere.”
While every team is looking to add top free agents to the roster, Jones would be a perfect fit for the Wings, who are also ready with their list of ‘dream signings’.
