Brittney Griner has been a stalwart of the WNBA realm. With some impressive basketball performances in her career, the veteran star is surely a candidate for a future Hall of Fame inductee.
Now then, in recent times, things haven’t been going quite well for Griner. In the recently concluded season, Griner was transferred to the Atlanta Dream. As the team had high hopes for the star player, things did not pan out as expected.
Initially, the 35-year-old looked quite polished. In fact, Griner helped the Dream hand the Minnesota Lynx the first homecourt loss of the season. And now, while she is looking for a comeback, Unrivaled season 2 might just be the perfect platform.
Will Brittney Griner Have A Breakout Unrivaled Season?
Griner announced her availability for Unrivaled 2026 following Atlanta’s early playoff exit. Playing for the Dream, it turned out that Griner was not the first choice besides Bri Jones. As the team deemed Naz Hillmon fit, Griner had to come off the bench.

And eventually, her confidence began to take a nosedive. This was the first time that Griner did not start in all the games she played in her career. And on top of that, the veteran star also recorded the lowest averages in terms of points, rebounds, minutes, and blocks.
Surely, after such a harsh season, the 35-year-old needed a launchpad. And Unrivaled season 2 can turn out to be just that. Griner will be playing for the. Vinyl BC this year.

Surely, if she is able to produce such a banger once again, then, needless to say, her stakes in the WNBA will be on the rise. Meanwhile, despite the Dream star having a poor season this year, her commitment to the team is unquestionable. As the Atlanta Dream entered the playoffs, Griner had a gritty message for her fans.

The Atlanta Dream might have gotten their dreams dashed in the playoffs. But when they stormed into the knockouts, the hype around the team was for real. Naz Hillmon had a breakout season. And Alisha Gray kept on pushing for the MVP award with some impressive performances.

Thus, before commencing their journey, Griner went all in and sounded confident about Dream’s chances. She said, “From the starting five to everybody on the bench, we’re ready to come in and do what we need to do, and the coach has done an amazing job on challenging each and every one of us, and like. Like Naz [Hillmon] said, he really focuses on getting better himself, and you can see it.”
