The WNBA games are getting wilder with players fighting each other on the court and even taking on referees, with the tensions rising. Brittney Griner, not new to this, was at the center of a similar situation and could face suspension for her actions.
Even though she didn’t hit any player or referee, her towering presence is enough to scare an individual in front of her. She was ejected from the game, and the league might look to take even stricter actions.
Brittney Griner Could Face Suspension Following Ejection From Dream vs Wings Game
The 2014 champion has a reputation for being aggressive and an enforcer. The 34-year-old had a tough night against the Dallas Wings, as the hosts managed to break her offensive flow. Until the third quarter, the two-time scoring champion had four points, spending 16 minutes on the floor. She looked frustrated by her performance and the boiling point reached in the third quarter.
The 10-time All-Star held on to Haley Jones in a defensive play on which the official called a foul on Atlanta’s number 42. She was upset over a foul call and started arguing with the official. The 6-feet-9 got closer to the referee, which led to a technical foul.

It angered the player more, and she followed the official a few steps further. Trying to make her case, she once again got close to the referee. She was called for a second technical, resulting in direct ejection from the game.
The league is expected to review the incident, which could lead to additional penalties like a fine or suspension. But this is not the first time the former Mercury star has faced strict action. In 2015, she received a seven-game suspension for her involvement in domestic violence. Four years later, she was suspended for three games for throwing punches and escalating an on-court altercation with the Dallas Wings.
