The Atlanta Dream played it big when they signed veteran Brittney Griner earlier this year. However, the star center proved their bold bet absolutely right, as Griner recently jumped to the 17th spot on the all-time rebounding list.
So now that the Dream are high and happy while heading into the 2025 WNBA Playoffs, the Texas-born superstar has humble words to share.
Brittney Griner Has A Humble Message Ahead Of WNBA Playoffs
Atlanta has been firing up all the cylinders this season lately. While the teams were counting on close games in the last leg, the Dream made it all past and landed safely in the playoff equation. And while they will happily see teams coming up with challenges to advance to the next round, gratitude is what’s holding them high.

Recently, Griner took a rather mature step to share her honest thoughts going forward. She took to her Instagram and shared a humble six-word message.
“Made for this, prayed for this(praying emoji),” she wrote.

With the message, the Baylor alum is more than ready for the 2025 WNBA playoffs. After a season of ups and downs, the future Hall of Famer posted a simple but powerful message. Though this came in the form of the Dream’s mindset, who’ve set a franchise record with 28 wins, gear up for their first postseason since 2018.
However, Griner, who spent 11 years with the Phoenix Mercury, joined Atlanta as a free agent, hoping to bring her championship pedigree to a talented roster featuring Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Brionna Jones, and Naz Hillmon. With nine All-Star nods, two Defensive Player of the Year awards, and a 2014 WNBA title, she was expected to be a game-changer.
Brittney Griner Adjusting As Per Team’s Needs
While she’s keeping her head high, 2025 hasn’t gone quite as planned. At 34, Griner’s averaging career lows. It stands at a mere 9.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in just 20.9 minutes per game. A mid-season neck injury didn’t help, and Griner has since shifted to a bench role, a first in her career.
Despite the dip in numbers, Griner quickly shifted her role as a backup. In a recent win over the LA Sparks, she chipped in eight points, five rebounds, and two assists in 18 minutes, showing she can still make an impact.

Even with such numbers, the Dream’s season has been a breakout. With 28 wins and counting, they are in contention for a top-two seed. Under first-year coach Karl Smesko, they’ve leaned on their depth, with Griner’s veteran presence anchoring the second unit.
The team’s last Finals trip was in 2013, and they haven’t advanced past the first round since 2018. This year feels different, though, and Griner’s playoff know-how could be the key.
