The Atlanta Dream is beaming with confidence, recording its best season in franchise history. The team is looking to win its first title in the WNBA. Players showing confidence in each other and in the coach make the team strong and united towards one goal—the WNBA championship. Former champion Brittney Griner weighs in on the idea.
The Atlanta Dream cemented its contender status with a win over the Minnesota Lynx early in the season, and now the veteran forward looks ahead for the team’s chances.
Brittney Griner Talks About Atlanta Dream’s Chances Of Winning WNBA Championship
The Atlanta Dream couldn’t have asked for a better start under head coach Karl Smesko in his first season in charge. The chemistry between players and coaching staff is visible on the court, with Naz Hillmon having a breakout season, Allisha Gray delivering an MVP-like performance on the floor, and the forward line shutting down the opposition with its strong defensive gameplay.

While the regular season results speak for themselves, winning a championship is certainly a different story. Former champion Griner has the experience and puts her thoughts on her current team’s chances.
“From the starting five to everybody on the bench, we’re ready to come in and do what we need to do, and the coach has done an amazing job on challenging each and every one of us, and like. Like Naz [Hillmon] said, he really focuses on getting better himself, and you can see it,” confident Brittney Griner said.

The veteran forward added that everyone is ready for the moment, and even the bench players are ready to step up when needed. She mentioned that the team has the depth to deliver on the night.
Brittney Griner Encouraging The Atlanta Dream From Start
Joining the side as a free agent, the forward showed her trust in Atlanta’s project. Many fans were surprised to see her in the mid-table side rather than playing for the contender team. But the veteran’s vision was clear, and she wanted to deliver the Dream’s first title in the league.
During the team’s recent win over the Los Angeles Sparks, the forward shared an Instagram post saying, “Made for this, prayed for this.” Such encouragement from the champion player certainly pumped up the team.
But this was not the only time the former Mercury player cheered her team. “We keep moving” and “PlayOff Bound” were other examples of Grinner’s words of encouragement for the team. Her constant cheering is a sign of her trust in the ‘dream’ of a title in 2025.
