The Chicago Sky is looking to build a team around Angel Reese ever since they drafted her as the seventh overall pick in 2024. But two seasons later, the situation is completely different. Recently, Reese even dropped truth bomb on leaving the Sky if the condition does not suit her future goals in the league.
Her ‘few’ sentences about her teammates didn’t go well with the locker room, who expressed their dissatisfaction in interviews later on. The management took strong steps and suspended the former LSU star for the first half against the Aces on September 7. However, Caitlin Clark fan and Angel Reese’s critic, Dave Portnoy, was not letting this opportunity go and mocked the star for her team’s actions.
Dave Portnoy Mocks Angel Reese Following Half-Game Suspension
Despite playing a key role in the team’s success, the former LSU star is facing heat from all directions. After the early wrap-up, she expressed her dissatisfaction with her team’s performance. A series of events followed after the statement in which she had to feel sorry for her statements.

First, Reese apologized for her statement in a post-game interview. Yet some players expressed their dissatisfaction with the forward’s words. The side also took a step further, suspending her for the first half of the game against the Las Vegas Aces.
Ironically, she was suspended by the league for her eighth technical foul in the season. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy took the opportunity to let the 23-year-old feel bad for her words and mocked her. He even added that the Sky social media account blocked him for his words for the star player.
“Breaking :Angel Reese suspended by her own team for being an a*****e. Also breaking: I have been blocked by the Chicago Sky?” he wrote in his post. He even shared evidence of the Sky social media handler blocking him.

The outspoken media personality, who always monitors updates on the Sky forward, credited her financial decision. But that was the only time he praised the two-time All-Star. Portnoy famously accepted that he doesn’t like Reese.
Angel Reese Getting Heat For Her Statement
Not only players, franchises, and critics like Portnoy took the players’ word seriously, but sports analysts also took the subject on board. Jason Whitelock reminded her of sitting out for three weeks and predicted that she wants to play with Paige Bueckers.
“This is what they say when you ghost the franchise with a “back” injury for 3 weeks. No one likes playing with Angel Reese. No one. Been true since college. She has a 2-year expiration date, and people want her to evacuate. Toxic. I think she wants to play in Dallas w/ Paige and Azzi,” said Whitlock.

While the Wings do have top picks in the 2026 WNBA draft, there are chances of Azzi Fudd joining PB next season. If Reese joins the Wings, she could form a young super team in Texas.
