Caitlin Clark’s popularity is reaching new highs every season, with the Fever franchise and league benefiting from her following. There is no question about her gameplay, which is transformational and has a significant impact on the way women play the game right now.
While very recently, Clark gave one piece of advice for aspiring basketball players, there is one former WNBA player who inspired her, Maya Moore. In a recent interview with Glamour Magazine, the Fever guard spoke about her favorite WNBA star and called the WNBA Hall of Famer easy to cheer for.
Caitlin Clark Calls Maya Moore Her Ultimate Hero
The Indiana Fever superstar has become a household name right now and has inspired many young basketball players to strive for more. While her work ethic, game play, and commitment are truly admirable traits, the player herself got inspiration from Maya Moore. Talking to Glamour magazine, the 2024 rookie opened up on her feelings for the former Lynx forward.

“Maya Moore was definitely my favorite basketball player growing up, male or female. Getting to meet her and watch her play in a game for the first time, it was probably one of the greatest memories of my childhood, truly,” Clark told the reporter.

“When Maya Moore did come and watch me in Iowa, it was a surprise. She was sitting courtside and just to have somebody you grew up wanting to be like take time outta their day to come and support you,” Clark continued.
Interestingly, the Fever guard also cares about her fans and community. Even when she was out with an injury, she signed autographs for fans and took pictures with them during the games.
Maya Moore Expects Caitlin Clark To Be A Better Leader
The admiration is mutual in this context, as the veteran forward also had good words for the youngster in an interview. As The Lynx retired her jersey during a game against the Fever, Moore spoke about the rookie guard and expects her to be a better leader as the next step in her career.
“The next step is how to become an even better leader,” Moore continued of Clark. “And so much of leadership I think is listening, and learning. Hopefully the more she can get connected to vets in the league, and just different people, and coaches, and anyone that she can glean wisdom from, of how to just continue to learn how to be as connected and inspiring of a leader as she can be. And a lot of that is walking the walk, not just talking the talk.”
