WNBA franchises will be working on expansion draft protections amid the new rules, which put the sides in difficult situations. One option to strengthen their team is via free agency signings with multiple talented stars up for grabs ahead of the 2026 season. As for the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, and Makayla Timpson give them a major advantage in free agency with the team’s performance in the 2025 season.
But then the team could face competition from another young, emerging superteam in the league that is slowly becoming an attractive destination for players.

Caitlin Clark’s Potential Future Teammate Has Decision To Make
Following a splendid performance in an unrivalled league and for the Los Angeles Sparks, too, Azura Stevens is one of the highly sought-after free agents in the league. While many fans want to see her pair with Clark and join the Fever’s quest for a championship, analysts also gave their stamp on the effective pairing between the two.
But one team that might be a bigger challenge for the Fever is the Dallas Wings. With a young superstar like Paige Bueckers on the roster and another top pick in hand, the Texas franchise is looking to build a superteam.
Azurá Stevens is the first player to have these stats:

As a two-way big Stevens thrives under the rim and can also shoot from the mid-range. She can space the floor and has great pick-and-roll experience with Kelsey Plum. So having a top and young playmaker would help her to improve her game, who just had a career year with the Sparks.

With the expansion draft coming up, the Spark would look to protect her unless they are sure about her singing back with the franchise. Even if she is available after the expansion draft, the Wings would be an attractive destination, showing much promise at the moment.
The plus side for the Fever, though, is their proven record with Clark-Boston and Stephanie White trio making things happen on the floor, while the Wings depend on the ‘younger hunger’ with Jose Fernandes debuting as WNBA head coach.
Fans will find out about the future of Stevens and the Fever roster in the next two weeks, but fans can see Clark once again in action in the coming days.
