The Indiana Fever’s season ended in utter disbelief when they lost the WNBA Semifinals series against the Las Vegas Aces. While they started the year with high hopes, it ended in an unfortunate run cut short by injuries.
Despite all this, Caitlin Clark has kicked off the WNBA offseason in full confidence. The Fever rookie has officially shifted her focus to Team USA, even if that means cutting down on the offseason break.
Caitlin Clark Is Prioritizing Team USA Duties
There was a time when the Fever were clear favourites to get the ring. However, Lexie Hull’s injury was in the spotlight at the wrong moment, as the team’s frontlines followed suit. Soon after, injuries to Boston, Cunningham, and Clark herself made it even more difficult for the roster to pose a challenge to their opponents.

Despite all this, as Clark enters the WNBA offseason, she’s crystal clear on prioritizing her national duties after a challenging season with the Fever. During her exit interview following a Game 5 loss to the Las Vegas Aces, she emphasized the importance of preparing for upcoming USA Basketball commitments over an extended break.
“There’s some USA basketball stuff I need to get ready for. And I need to be able to find some runs, and ways to play five-on-five, just so I can kind of get that feel back. But more than anything, I think my main focus is really just getting my body healthy,” Clark said.

This comes after missing the Paris Olympics, which had already added much drama to the season. Additionally, she also told reporters that her priority is getting healthy and regaining her five-on-five rhythm, which is essential after a season cut short by injuries.
Caitlin Clark Weighs On WNBA’s Most Important Moment
Clark also addressed Collier’s explosive exit interview, where the Lynx star criticized Engelbert’s alleged dismissive remarks about her earnings. On October 2, Clark expressed respect for Collier’s valid points, stopping short of full endorsement but acknowledging the league’s crossroads.
She shared her candid thoughts on the burning issue, being honest about how she feels about the situation.
“I have great respect for Phee… she made a lot of valid points. Phee said it all. … This is straight-up the most important moment in this league’s history,” she said.
Soon after that, Collier canceled a planned meeting with Cathy Engelbert, which seems to add fuel to the drama. We’ll wait to see how things turn around before the October deadline.
