The WNBA players were severely underpaid. And in order to change that, the players’ union has been fighting for a long time to make things straight. Well, seventeen months to be exact. During this time, the players went through a whirlwind of emotions as the 2026 WNBA season looked quite doubtful.
Such a tumultuous situation also meant that names like Caitlin Clark, too, got frustrated with the ongoing drama. And remember, the Indiana Fever star is rarely involved in controversy. Now, things have finally sorted out, and players across the WNBA now enjoy a relaxed vibe. Likewise, Clark, too, cannot hide her excitement about the new CBA.

Caitlin Clark ‘Thankful’ For The New CBA
Just a few days back, the WNBA Board of Governors finally approved the latest CBA. Joining NBC’s Basketball Night for the second time this NBA season, Clark looked elated to the core. Delving into the details of the deal, the 24-year-old star pinpointed how revenue sharing and an increased salary were the two decisive components of the new contract.
Summing up the players’ tireless quest for pay equity, the 2024 Rookie of the Year said, “I think it sets a precedent for all of women’s sports going forward, not just women’s basketball, that we’re truly valued and the product we put on the floor is truly valued. Just excited and really thankful for everybody — everybody on the WNBA side and everybody on the PA side.”

Surely, there have been some significant changes in the contract this time around. Along with a 20% revenue sharing, the average salary has also gone up by a notch. Increasing almost five-times, the number now stands at $600,000 from the previous $120,000.

And coincidentally, all of this started with the emergence of Clark into the game. Coming into the league after a stellar NCAA career for the Iowa Hawkeyes, the stakes were already high. Adding the icing on the top, she dropped some jaw-dropping performances to garner a lot of eyeballs. It also prompted the league to get a boost with new investors coming in.
Meanwhile, a humble Clark denies taking credit for the same.
Caitlin Clark Did Not Want To Become The ‘Face’ Of The League

Clark has been getting a lot of limelight for her on-court performances. Personalities like Luka Doncic have expressed the desire to watch her play live. And as she is ready for a ‘special’ year at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in 2026, the hype around her is growing further. But as per the 2-time WNBA champion, she did not want to be the centre of attraction purposefully.
“This was never my goal to change women’s sports. I just showed up, and I played, and I loved every single second of it. I feel a responsibility to show up and put a smile on everybody’s face that buys a ticket and comes and watches us play,” Clark said on NBC.
Now then, with things looking rosy, fans will wait for a Caitlin Clark special in the upcoming WNBA season.
