As CBA discussions were getting longer and longer, news of Project B’s arrival hit the league following WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike’s announcement as the first signing. Many other superstars joined the new league with perks and pay that they were demanding in the CBA.
Analysts and fans fear the league could lose its brightest star, Caitlin Clark, to a rival league that offers a more lucrative package. Things got serious when CC’s Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham joined Project B.
Knowing their bond, it was natural that the Fever playmaker could also switch to the new league. But on her podcast, Cunningham told fans what Clark exactly told her when she tried recruiting for Project B, and in a recent interview, fans get to hear it from the 24-year-old star herself.

Caitlin Clark Reject Project B
Project B entered the women’s basketball world with salaries above $2 million and other offers attracting attention. Nneka Ogwumike mentioned that women in sport had never had such an opportunity and was happy to join in. When a reporter asked CC about her opinion on joining the new venture, she clearly denied it.
Clark said, “I plan to play in the WNBA. Obviously, that’s another thing that we need to get done so that we have a season coming up here. But I think more than anything, it showcases what people think of women’s basketball.”

“All these different opportunities, all these different leagues, the platform that they want to give women’s basketball, where they think women’s basketball is gonna continue to grow. I think the thing that probably pops into my mind is just that, of people are really believing, and putting their money where their mouth is.” CC added.
The Fever’s GM called Clark the driving force behind the league’s explosive growth. Had she left for Project B, it would have negatively impacted the league. But not only did she deny the offer, but the playmaker was also just happy to see the growth of the league and that of women’s basketball. Now that she is looking to continue playing in the WNBA, there is one crucial step pending from the league – the CBA.
Caitlin Clark Gets Real About CBA Negotiations
When the news and pictures of the 24-year-old joining the Team USA training camp hit the internet, fans showered love on Clark. After the first training session, she faced the reporters who asked her about her opinion on the CBA discussions.
The Fever guard said, “That’s what our fans crave — the product on the floor. That’s what the fans want to show up for. So, it’s business, and it’s a negotiation, and there has to be compromise on both sides. And we’re starting to get down to the wire of it.”
Caitlin Clark shares her thoughts on state of CBA negotiations, avoiding a lockout, etc. at Duke.
