Caitlin Clark was on NBC’s pregame broadcast, where she spoke about multiple topics. She hyped up LeBron James, praised Luka Doncic and also lauded Madison Square Garden for its ‘surreal’ feeling. The star was at the venue for the first time, attending the Knicks game. But one point she came across multiple times in recent days is: WNBA-WNBPA CBA discussion.
The topic on the agenda was the player’s answer to a question about the upcoming meeting. While she is in New York City, fans want Clark to attend the meeting, calling her the most important player in the discussion. But the Fever guard sent her message across while on the NBC program.

After over a year-long period, the WNBA and WNBPA are still struggling to reach a middle ground on the CBA terms. The commercials are the main stumbling block, while fans and players are eager to see the conclusion of the meeting on Monday would be crucial in all aspects.
“Honestly, I don’t think it’s just a big moment for the WNBA, I think all of women’s sports. I think this is one of the biggest moments we’ve ever had. There’s a meeting tomorrow that’s super important. I truly do believe we’re going to get something done here in the next couple of weeks. There’s a lot of boxes that we still need to check (before a 2026 season). … But I really do feel confident,” Clark said.

The league announced its schedule, which will start on May 8, and there are still many processes, including free-agent signings, the expansion draft, and the 2026 WNBA draft.

Though it’s not clear whether the star will be part of the meeting in New York, she already put forward her views on the ongoing CBA discussions while she was at the USA training camp.

There had been a lot of opinions from the players’ end, highlighting that the athletes deserve more respect and value, and that the league should agree to the demands without hesitation. When the camera came into view of CC, the player put fans up front and highlighted that the product is for the fans and that they deserve to see the games, so it’s essential for both parties to make some compromises to complete the deal.
Clark said, “I think the most important thing for myself in thinking about these CBA negotiations is like, this is the biggest moment the WNBA has ever seen. And it’s not something that can be messed up. And you know, we’re gonna fight for everything we deserve. But at the same time, we need to play basketball. That’s what our fans crave, and that’s what all of you crave as well. You want the product on the floor.”

Interestingly, Paige Bueckers also hinted at compromise as the solution for the CBA standoff during her recent interview. But she stood by the players’ association, calling the non-negotiable demands the same during the discussion.
