It looks like injuries are taking some heavy toll on Caitlin Clark. After coming off a fantastic rookie season, a lot of great things were expected from her. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort happened as her groin injury made the 23-year-old sit out on the bench. With no confirmed return timeline yet, the situation was already challenging. Now, recent news has further heightened the tensions.
Clark is currently in her rehab phase at the moment. While she is currently practicing her endurance, she will hopefully come back only after she joins team practice. But even before any good news came, a new injury of the 2024 Rookie of the Year has taken the internet by storm.
Caitlin Clark’s Return Delayed With Yet Another Injury?
Clark is eager to come back and help her team have a smooth sailing in the postseason. And she has been facing some tough challenges while sitting on the sidelines. Thus, the last thing that she would have wanted was to sustain another injury. Unfortunately, that is exactly what has reportedly happened. The former Iowa star has suffered a mild ankle injury recently.

According to reports from Chloe Peterson and Scott Agnes on X (formerly Twitter), Clark suffered a bruised ankle back on August 7. Peterson further detailed that the injury happened while the Fever star was working out as part of her rehab.
“Sources confirm to me that Caitlin Clark suffered a “very mild” bone bruise in her left ankle on Aug. 7. @ScottAgness first,” wrote Peterson.

Source also stresses that this does not tweaked ankle does not affect her return timeline. Sans ankle injury, she would still be out rehabbing her groin.

Now then, such a news surely had the fans’ shoulders drooping. While they anticipated the return of the star soon, things are looking quite murky at the moment. But there is good news. Peterson also clarified that the latest injury is not major enough to defer the return timeline of the 23-year-old. She will continue with her groin rehab as planned. But that also means that fans are going to see the face of the WNBA anytime soon.
Stephanie White Has A Grim Update For Caitlin Clark’s Return Timeline
The Indiana Fever recently waived off Kyra Lambert. And immediately, the fans put on their speculating hats. As per some rumours, Lambert got cut because Clark was coming back very soon. But sadly enough, head coach Stephanie White poured cold water on the expectations. In a recent statement, she had some gloomy news.

“Until she can get into practice, and until you guys see her in practice, it’s really status quo, same as same as we have been,” said White.
Surely, the season for Clark is looking utterly complicated at the moment. For someone who has not missed a single game in all of her previous seasons combined, this season must feel particularly rough. The 23-year-old must also be itching to come back, more so when the Fever are kind of in a tricky situation. Lingering at sixth, the addition of Clark to the side would surely bolster their chances. However, whether or not she will be able to come back is something that only the future will tell.
