Caitlin Clark and Sophie Cunningham are arguably the two most important names for the Indiana Fever. However, although both stars had a limited game time, the team is looking forward to some big matchups this year.
In a recent Christmas post, the Indiana Fever featured Cunningham and Clark in a playful manner. Meanwhile, the friendship between Clark and Cunningham has been a topic of some heavy discussion.
And while the duo are best friends, things also get really interesting among them. The 23-year-old superstar, as it turns out, never misses a chance to mess with Cunningham.

Cunningham and Clark had shared quite a few viral moments together. However, back in 2025, when the Fever played the Washington Mystics in the preseason, Cunningham had a fantastic game. Dropping an impressive 21 points and eight rebounds, the ‘enforcer’ looked to be on top of her game.
However, in a hilarious turn of events, the 29-year-old messed up with her interview. While describing the vibe within the team, Cunningham wanted to say ‘breath of fresh air.’ Unfortunately, she mixed up and said, “Fresh of breath air.”
And immediately, it was Clark who picked it up and trolled her good friend. But the incident did not end there. Months later, when Cunningham shared a recap of her 2025, Clark reposted the video, captioning it with the identical phrase that embarrassed Cunningham.

Sophie Cunningham Reveals Her Feelings On Toppling Caitlin Clark
Cunningham had a moment of pride when she emerged as the only female athlete to feature in Google’s most searched top 10 athletes of 2025. Surprisingly, the face of the WNBA, despite having a larger global appeal than Cunningham, was not included in the list. Thus, when the 29-year-old was asked about how she felt, Cunningham came up with a blunt response.

“But there’s no real feelings towards it. People want to know more about me. I mean, yeah. But I’m sure last year [Clark] was probably No. 1, right? She blew up in college… this is just this year,” said Cunningham.
