Caitlin Clark made a splash after she came into the WNBA realm. Garnering a significant amount of eyeballs, the former Iowa star made the league burst into the limelight. Unfortunately, despite all the glitz and glamour the league has, the future of the league looks quite bleak.
Clark had a pretty subdued season this year. With her lingering groin injury keeping her out of action, the Fever star hoped to make a strong comeback in the coming season. Stephanie White even updated Clark’s week-by-week recovery plan.
Unfortunately, all of that appears to be quite uncertain at the moment. As the CBA negotiations are ongoing, the possibility of the next season getting underway in time hangs in the balance.
Will We See Caitlin Clark Play Next Year In 2025?
Along with Clark, the league has witnessed some incredible improvements. They have shattered the 29-year-old records in viewership, media consumption, merchandise sales, and arena attendance. And now, as the league was supposed to be gearing up for a historic 30th anniversary season, things have gone haywire.

With the players pushing for increased salaries and a better revenue-sharing model, the WNBA front office is still stalling the process. In the midst of all this, a concerning trend has been identified. The WNBPA President, Nneka Ogwumike, has recently signed up for Project B.
And that’s not all. With the Saudi-backed league offering vast sums of money, many WNBA stars are expected to join Project B. For instance, Ogwumike’s salary has been reported to be a whopping $2 million.

This, compared to her $269,244 WNBA salary, looks gargantuan. Moreover, the league has also announced that it will give a chunk of the revenue share to its players. Thus, all in all, the probability of Clark coming back for the next season in time looks quite bleak. Especially since rumors strongly suggest a connection between Clark and Project B.
Caitlin Clark Rumored To Join Project B In Saudi Arabia?
The change in dynamics is already visible. As leagues like Unrivaled offer players much higher pay, more players are showing interest in joining the 3-on-3 league.

However, in an interesting twist, the likes of A’ja Wilson, Caitlin Clark, and a lot of big names have opted out of Unrivaled. And this has sparked speculation about the Saudi-backed team possibly swooping in to sign both WNBA stars for Project B, slated to start in November 2026.
A report from Front Office Sports stated that a player’s annual salary could reach a maximum of $10 million. And this has further fueled the speculation that Clark will likely ditch the W for Project B.
