Caitlin Clark has become a phenom in the WNBA. After taking the NCAA realm by storm, she has continued to assert her dominance at the professional level as well. With some impeccable records in her rookie year, the Fever has single-handedly changed the dynamics of female basketball. Her impact on the game is such that even LeBron James had an inspiring message for Clark after her season-ending injury. But surprisingly, things were not so good with her back in high school.
One of Clark’s strongest points in her game is her knack for passing the ball. With her sublime hooping talent, the 23-year-old can effortlessly find her teammates to get out of tight situations. Unfortunately, back in high school, that is not how things were.
Caitlin Clark Gets Exposed As High School Teammates Reveal Her Refusal To Pass
Clark’s alma mater, the Iowa Hawkeyes, is currently preparing for a crucial game. They will be taking on their arch-rivals from across the state, the Iowa State Cyclones. Interestingly, the venue is just forty minutes away from Clark’s high school, Dowling Catholic. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy took the opportunity to visit the area and chat with the Fever star’s former teammates.

While discussing various topics, Portnoy, at one point, asked how good the 2024 Rookie of the Year was with passing. Surprisingly, the reply that came up was pretty shocking. One of the girls paused for a moment and pointed out that Clark was not much of a passer back then. Portnoy posted the clip on his X, formerly known as Twitter, with a hint of his own opinion.
“Met some of @CaitlinClark22 High School teammates and asked them if she passed at all. (I wouldn’t have either if I was was her),” wrote Portnoy.

Surely, given Clark’s superior skill set, it is normal for her to try to score for her team herself. However, coming to the WNBA, she does not try to do things alone, as evidenced by the number of assists listed against her name. Meanwhile, missing out on the WNBA season due to her injury, Clark has tried to cheer up her fans. However, her statement was not enough for Jason Whitlock, who boldly criticized the league.
Jason Whitlock Lashes Out At The WNBA Following Caitlin Clark’s Season-Ending Injury
The 23-year-old Fever star recently announced her unavailability for the rest of the season. With Clark concluding her season after just 13 games, Jason Whitlock had a fiery response to the situation. He pointed fingers at the WNBA and stated that Clark’s injury had disappointed an entire generation of fans. As Clark brought in a lot of viewership, Whitlock felt that in her absence, the ratings would take a sharp dip.

“WNBA, you’re dead. The league pretty much blew its opportunity this year, and tonight, when Caitlin Clark announced she was not returning this season, I just sat there shaking my head. They had a chance to elevate themselves, but instead, they disappointed an entire new fan base,” Whitlock said.
Surely, all such reactions state how important Clark is for not only the Indiana Fever but also the WNBA. Thus, as the team prioritized her long-term health, fans would be eager to see how well she can make up for the lost time in the next season.
