Eighth-placed Indiana Fever needs a miracle to clinch a playoff spot in the 2025 season. But, Caitlin Clark, the one on the roster capable of providing a miracle, is still recovering from the groin injury. Now with just one game advantage in hand over the ninth-placed team, Stephanie White is looking to speed up the rehab process.
Stephanie White revealed Clark’s key role during her injury period. And now with her decision and actions, the HC indirectly provided an update on CC’s possible return.
Stephanie White Takes a Cautious Step On Caitlin Clark’s Return
Fans were frustrated with ‘incomplete’ information on the 2024 rookie’s health. While the Fever HC highlighted that the team will look for long-term safety and wellness of the player, they never provided a concrete schedule.

But ahead of the game against the Phoenix Mercury, the HC updated that the playmaker will participate in shooting drills and individual work. This could be a positive sign for the fans to see the superstar guard back on the floor soon.
The 23-year-old participated in 5-on-0 work during shootaround in Phoenix, which is generally a no-contact drill that allows players to get back to their shooting practice and also tests their endurance for the games. When asked about the possibility of the 2024 rookie playing in any more regular-season games, White kept her cards closed.
“That’s the hope. She’s working as hard as she can to make sure that she is coming back or is capable of coming back. I think that the long-term viewpoint of her health and wellness is the most important thing,” HC White told reporters.

Caitlin Clark And DeWanna Bonner Exchange Words During Mercury vs. Fever Game
The former Iowa star might be out of action, but not out of energy and competitive spirit. In a recent game against the Phoenix Mercury, she was seen exchanging words with her former teammate DeWanna Bonner. Both players clashed (from distance) as Lexie Hull received a foul call and the Fever guard was not happy with that.
Stephanie White challenged the call, resulting in a short timeout. As Bonner slowly walked back to the Mercury bench, CC expressed her feelings about the foul. When DB responded that it was a foul, the 23-year-old guard waved her to the bench. Bonner then turned around and exchanged some words with the injured Fever guard.

The incident pumped up the crowd at the PHX Arena, who supported the veteran forward, booing CC in the process. After review, the foul stayed, and Stephanie White lost the challenge. Fans want to see ‘active’ Caitlin Clark on the floor with her competitive spirit firing up the games.
