The WNBA was supposed to be the next big thing in sports. With the likes of Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers helping the league to gain momentum, the sport was booming. Instead, the players are now staring down a possible lockout, as the CBA deal hangs in the balance.
Reacting to the situation, the likes of A’ja Wilson and Azura Stevens lashed out at the league. Now then, when the WNBA is suffering from existential crises, Unrivaled is slowly gaining momentum. And while the first season was perceived as offseason entertainment, Indiana Fever star Makayla Timposon stressed why the 3-on-3 league is much more than that.

Caitlin Clark’s Teammate Makayla Timpson Addresses Growth In Unrivaled
Timpson played her rookie season alongside the likes of Caitlin Clark. Unfortunately, coming to a star-studded team, the 23-year-old seldom got gametime. In fact, she only got seven minutes on average in her rookie season.
But in Unrivaled, things are way different. The lesser number of players on the court spreads out the court significantly. And this allows the players to shoulder more responsibility and grow their game.
Appearing on an episode of the ‘Ari & Rachel Unfiltered’ podcast, Timpson said, “We scrimmage twice a week, get live reps, and run plays just like a team would. We’re basically staying ready in case we get called up.”
Surely, such an opportunity means a lot for someone like Timpson. After a muted WNBA season, without the Unrivaled, she would have had a dormant offseason. But now, all the practice and game time will make the 23-year-old ready for the upcoming season. However, despite not getting enough minutes, Timpson felt welcomed to the Indiana Fever locker room via Caitlin Clark.

Makayla Timposon Details How Caitlin Clark Helped Her Settle In
Coming into a locker room with Sophie Cunningham, Lexie Hull, and more was not easy. Thus, the 19th pick for the Indiana Fever was a bit shaky initially. Thankfully, after crossing paths with Clark, Timpson felt at home while gelling well with the team.

Narrating Clark’s impact, Timpson said, “She’s a great player, and just seeing her grow and us growing together as teammates, making each other better, pushing each other, it’s going to be great. I love her, how she fights, the things that she’s able to control, and that she doesn’t show. She’s just a strong, strong player, strong-minded. Hopefully, we can just continue to play with each other.”
Thus, with things looking rosy for Timpson, fans are now eager to find out how she fares in the upcoming days.
