Candace Parker has been a legend of the game. And while she took the hardwood by storm during her playing days, the 39-year-old is still unafraid to put forth her unfiltered views about everything WNBA. Only recently, Parker roasted WNBA players’ ‘Awful’ All-Star showing. Thus, when such a character has her jersey retired for a second time, the headlines ought to be made.
Prior to the start of the season, Parker had her jersey retired initially by the Los Angeles Sparks. The 39-year-old played for 13 seasons donning the Sparks’ jersey and became a legend there. However, there was one more team with which she had ties. And her second jersey retirement, courtesy of the Chicago Sky, had her teammates pulling up in style.
Candace Parker Gets Love From Her Teammates
Playing for the Sky, the three-time WNBA champion helped the team win its maiden championship back in 2021. Now, as the ceremony got underway, several of Parker’s 2023 teammates had sent recorded messages to make the evening memorable for the 39-year-old. But that was not all. Pulling up in style to the ceremony, Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray donned the 2016 Finals MVP’s Naperville High School jersey.

The celebration was filled with such heartwarming moments. Likewise, Dana Evans, a 2021 teammate of Parker, had some kind words to share as she spoke about the three-time WNBA champion’s leadership skills.
“As a teammate, Candace was always just a great leader. She pushed us and made sure we were always ready to play. As a person off the court, I always called her ‘Mama Candace’ because she acts like everyone’s mom. And she’s just so loving and caring,” Evans said.

Well, the entire ceremony certainly did make the now-WNBA analyst nostalgic. Meanwhile, after her dominant showing on the WNBA court, the 39-year-old is now making waves in broadcasting. Parker recently landed a new role with TNT, and she could not be happier.
Candace Parker Makes Feelings Known After Landing New Role With TNT Sports
After her retirement from the sport, the 2016 WNBA champion decided to make her debut in broadcasting. And ever since then, she has been a constant with the TNT coverage team. However, in a recent report, the Sparks’ legend has been given more responsibilities to shoulder. The two-time MVP will continue to reprise her role as a CBS analyst. A role that saw Parker boldly challenging WNBA players to step their game up.

In her new role, the WNBA legend will be covering Unrivaled, BIG EAST, March Madness, and more. Surely, landing up with so much on her plate made her extremely happy. “I’m grateful to keep doing what I love with my TNT Sports family. Getting to cover the Big EAST, Big 12, March Madness, and now Unrivaled — it all means a lot. These moments are special, and I don’t take any of it for granted,” said Parker.
Well, creating a buzz on and off the court, the 39-year-old has remained quite relevant to the game. Now, with Parker lashing out at poor player facilities in the WNBA, things might get interesting as she expands her horizon with TNT.
