The emotions were high during the Minnesota Lynx vs Seattle Storm game on August 28. The Storm needed a win to hang on to the playoff qualification. Rising up to the occasion, Skylar Diggins dropped a game-high 23 points and handed the side incredible 93-79 win at the Target Center.
The scoreline might do an injustice to the Storm’s impressive second-half comeback, but the win would top the franchise’s key moments of the 2025 season, surpassing the Seattle Storm’s historic win over the Dallas Wings. There was one more moment that will leave a long-lasting impression on fans’ minds – Diggin’s three-pointer celebration and Cheryl Reeve’s heated reaction to the same.
Cheryl Reeve Gets Technical For Strong Reaction On Skylar Diggins’ Celebration
The moment came at the end of the third quarter when the 35-year-old guard scored a three-pointer over Lynx’s top defender, Napheesa Collier. The Storm ended their massive 25-6 run with that basket and took a four-point lead going into the final 10 minutes of the game.

While the huge comeback stunned everyone in the Target Center arena, the visitors’ bench was excited, getting close to an improbable win. Former Notre Dame guard was pumped up with her team’s performance and wildly celebrated her last basket. She went a step ahead and taunted the Lynx bench – extending her celebration a bit.
But the act didn’t go well with Cheryl Reeve. She got angry at the taunting and lost her control when the referees didn’t take any action on the extended celebration. The experienced HC went on to complain about it to the officials. She even stepped out of permissible limits and didn’t return to the bench despite constant reminders from the officials.
Reeves got a technical foul for her outburst while the Settle coaches tried to calm down Diggins, who was charged up after a strong push in just six minutes of gameplay. Noelle Quinn’s team continued to pressure the hosts in the fourth quarter and closed the game with another 26-16 run in the final 10 minutes.

Even though the Lynx controlled the game for the opening 24 minutes, the final 16 minutes belonged to the Storm. Nneka Ogwumike joined the elite scoring club during a recent game against the Indiana Fever and continued her form, nearly dropping a double-double performance in the win.
Skylar Diggins And Co. Are Hanging On To Playoff Qualification
A loss against the Indiana Fever, the Seattle Storm needed a win to stay in the qualification scenario. Till half-time, the league leaders were in control, but the big run and the ‘feisty’ end to the third quarter energized the four-time champions, handing them a ‘W’.
After the win, the Storm has a 21-19 record and is 10 games behind the Lynx. The Indiana Fever takes sixth place with a better head-to-head record against the Seattle Storm, and the Seattle franchise captures seventh position. Now, with just four games remaining to play in the regular season, one win will put them in the postseason.
Their remaining fixtures include games against the Chicago Sky (August 30), Los Angeles Sparks (September 1), New York Liberty (September 5), and the Golden State Valkyries (September 9). Winning over Spark will seal the Seattle side’s playoff qualification.
