It takes two to tango, and one unhinged Paige Bueckers to ask a WNBA referee if he needs help officiating a game. The Dallas Wings had their rookie phenom on the sidelines, sitting out to ease upon load management, but there’s no limiting her from speaking out.
Bueckers sat out for the Wings’ recent game against the Las Vegas Aces. Despite no on-court action, she still managed to steal the spotlight from the bench. Unfortunately, her team lost 106-80 as their struggling season continued. Though her viral roast of refs is getting a lot of attention lately.
Paige Bueckers Takes Shot At Refs From Sidelines
During the Wings’ clash with a stronger seventh-seeded Aces, the Dallas rookie was fully invested in the game. Rocking new spectacles that had commentators comparing her to a professor, Bueckers went viral for her antics in the fourth quarter. She took a sharp-witted jab at a referee over a questionable foul call on Aces center Megan Gustafson.
Wings’ Teaira McCowan entered the game as Grace Berge’s replacement while scores remained a fairly 15-point difference. While there were close to 10 minutes still left on the clock, Aziaha James missed out on a two-pointer. However, McCowan grabbed the offensive rebound, missed again, and secured another board.
After a few split seconds, Gustafson was whistled for a shooting foul, sending McCowan to the free-throw line, where she converted both shots. Bueckers, skeptical of the call, leapt from the bench and quipped straight at the refs.

As it seemed, she was having a great time resting on the bench. While there are no injury concerns regarding her, Bueckers is expected to suit up for the next game against the New York Liberty.
Wings Sought Rest For Sidelining Paige Bueckers
It might have surprised many, but Bueckers was sidelined as part of a load management plan, her first absence this season. Coach Chris Koclanes also pointed to her heavy workload as the rookie is averaging 34.6 minutes per game. It suits her up among the WNBA’s highest.

Additionally, Bueckers has also dealt with patellar tendinitis since high school. Her condition makes the recent rest essential to preserve her health for the long haul. Recently, her comments from earlier this month resurfaced. She had earlier talked about being a little cautious with the condition. Safe to say she’s saving herself up for the team’s good.
