With the season getting seven games old, the teams are starting to feel the pressure of every basket and possession in the game to push for the playoffs. Two teams had been in safe spots, Laces BC and Breeze BC, taking the top two positions in the standings with their stars – Alyssa Thomas, Brittney Sykes, Paige Bueckers, Cameron Brink, and Jackie Young delivering on the floor.
But a game between these top sides gave fans a thriller and changed the look of the season 2 standings. While Dominique Malonga’s slam dunk and Jackie Young’s game-winner became highlights of their respective game, the Breeze BC vs Laces BC also had a memorable play.

Cameron Brink With ‘No Look Basket’
Late in the fourth quarter, both teams were separated by just four points, with the Laces leading 69-65. With 76 as the target score, every possession mattered, and Breeze BC were in position, looking to cut the lead, Malonga had to make a pass to Bronk following pressure from Naz Hillmon.
The 2024 rookie collected the pass at the top of the key and tried to dribble past her defender, Alyssa Thomas. The strong Mercury defender not only held her to the free-throw line but also tried to steal the ball. Her attempt hit Brink on the face. The Breeze star nearly gave away the play and made the attempt with one hand on her face. The shot went in, touching nothing but net.

Commentator and spectators went crazy with the no-look basket, but Brink was back in her half, adjusting the mask and checking on her nose. Though the Breeze BC cut the lead to just two points, AT and the team ultimately grabbed victory.

The shot was even more incredible given Brink’s medical condition earlier in the WNBA season.
Cameron Brink Has A History With Face injuries
WNBA fans showed love for the Sparks’ forward as the former Stanford star returned from a 13-month ACL injury rehabilitation late in July. She returned to action with a 15-minute restriction, scoring and providing instant defensive energy after recovering from the tear in her left knee.
Sadly, in September 2025, Brink suffered a broken nose after NaLyssa Smith elbowed her in the face during a game against the Las Vegas Aces.
Following this incident, she underwent a fitting for a custom protective face mask for the upcoming season to prevent further injury. Three months later, Brink shared a positive recovery update on the facial injury.
Interestingly, in the Laces vs Breeze game, AT’s attempt to grab the ball slid the mask away, and Brink had to move away from the play to take care of her nose. Anyhow, the made basket certainly became a highlight of the game for the Breeze BC.
