The ‘Block Party is back’ for the Los Angeles Sparks. Return of Cameron Brink once again provided them with a strong rim defender. She has been on point with her defensive gameplay. Interestingly, it has been just two games for the star since she returned to the court following her ACL injury, but the 23-year-old is already making history.
In her latest game against the Seattle Storm, she had three blocks and two steals. Clearly a sign of progress from her first game and a positive sign for the franchise looking to push for the playoffs.
Cameron Brink Levels Candace Parker And Lisa Leslie’s Record
Let’s look to put her performances in perspective. She is already matching up with a few of the league’s best defenders, including the Sparks’ superstars Candace Parker and Lisa Leslie. Both these players made their mark as all-around players in the ‘W’ but were great defenders for their teams. The 2024 rookie is also delivering similar outings on the court.
In her 17 career games so far, she has had nine games with at least a block and steal, that is more than 50% of her matches. Ironically, there are just 10 players in the WNBA who managed to achieve this exclusive feat, including the 2016 Finals MVP and Leslie. Though the sample size for Brink is small, she is on track to maintain this stat with her form.
Six of these 10 stars had been Defensive Player of the Year in their respective years. While the illustrious accolade is still far from the former Stanford player, she has already won the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award in her college career. In the pro league, she is also developing into an elite defender.
Cameron Brink’s Return Power LA Sparks To Playoffs
The Los Angeles Sparks had been resilient in pushing for the postseason in 2025. A shaky season took a turn after the All-Star game, and they now stand in 10th position. With a 12-15 record, they are just 1.5 games away from the eighth-placed Golden State Valkyries.

The return of Cameron Brink gives them defensive stability and an offensive option. Though she is not really putting up huge numbers offensively, her defensive game is helping the team to make a push on transition and fast breaks.
She will be back at her offensive best as she spends more time on the court. However, her link-up plays are also great currently, allowing the team to use her big size in screens and pick-and-roll. This boosts their chance to make it to the postseason.
