Cameron Brink has come back to mainstream action after a year. Tending to her ACL injury, she had to wait for a long time in order to make her return. Incidentally, during her time outside of the court, Brink has witnessed a large shift in dynamics in the WNBA. With the emergence of Caitlin Clark, the league has been booming.
With record merchandise sales and media rights, the WNBA now has everyone’s attention. And while the league is looking to expand and grow further, Brink has a few tips for the media.
Cameron Brink Has A Deep Message For The Media
In the world of media, selling a story is of utmost importance. And that is exactly why sometimes, media houses tend to exaggerate or sensationalise news and quotes about athletes. And this is a practice that the Sparks’ star suggested the media refrain from. Ahead of her game against the Seattle Storm, Brink was asked how the media could play a role in the league’s expansion.
The 23-year-old immediately stressed the need to humanize WNBA athletes. She asked the media to report promptly and take the athletes’ quotes at face value.
“That’s a great question. I don’t know, just continue to be honest, and you know, just having good intentions, just, you know, taking our word for what it is at face value. You know, just growing, the league that’s a great question, though. I think you guys are doing a great job,” said Brink. (Via a report from Landon Buford)
