The Los Angeles Sparks had some big dreams when they came into the WNBA season. However, as the league proceeded, the Sparks could not bring out the expected performance from their players. Now, as the team is looking ahead to push for the playoffs, one name is coming up as their saviour. A returning Cameron Brink has been phenomenal for the Sparks. Back in early August, Brink’s career-high stat led the Sparks to a dominant victory over Indiana.
At the moment, Los Angeles is stuck at the ninth position with 17 wins and 20 losses. And in order to get to the playoffs, the Sparks will have to try to win the remainder of their games. With an all-important game coming up against the Washington Mystics, all eyes are now on Brink.
Cameron Brink Might Be The Missing Piece In Los Angeles Sparks’ Playoff Puzzle
Brink has been a live wire on the field. While Los Angeles had a heartbreaking 75-76 loss to the Fever, the 23-year-old was impressive as usual. Coming off the bench, the Sparks’ star played for seventeen minutes. Within the little timeframe, the star forward chipped in with 4 points and five rebounds. Now, while the numbers might not be too much to show for, Brink’s impact on the field was quite notable.

Her defensive abilities have been top-notch this year, and thus, head coach Lynne Roberts should allow a bit more gametime to the 23-year-old. While her offensive abilities are not exactly impressive, the Sparks will probably not need her to contribute on that front. That is because Los Angeles is ranking second in terms of points per game. Thus, with Brink showing off some impressive defensive game, it will be an interesting aspect to watch out for how well she can adapt in the future.

Now then, the Mystics might be placed lower than the Sparks. But that does not mean the game will be an easy affair. After all, the threat of Sonia Citron will loom large on Sparks’ defense. Now then, shifting the focus back to Cameron Brink, she has already made a couple of WNBA records.

Cameron Brink Ties Block Record With Brittney Griner On Her Return
The 23-year-old missed her rookie and half of her sophomore year due to her ACL injury. Thankfully, from the moment she came back, Brink was impeccable in her execution. The Sparks’ star came back to the squad in early August against the Seattle Storm. While the Sparks got a 108-106 double-overtime win, things got even better for Brink.

The 23-year-old star delivered a tight defensive game to keep the Storm athletes from scoring. And with it, she became the fifth fastest WNBA athlete to score 39 career blocks. With it, Brink also tied with Candace Parker and Brittney Griner. As per further reports from Athlon Sports, Brink has achieved the feat in 17 games. And that was not all. Continuing with her sublime performance, Brink also tied Rebeca Lobo for the 14th-fastest in WNBA history to 75 stocks.
