Candace Parker had been one of the biggest names in the WNBA circuit. Much before the likes of Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark reigned the league, it was for Parker that a large number of fans tuned in to watch female basketball. However, now that she is retired, Parker is still quite active on the hooping front. Only recently, Parker joined as the lead broadcaster for Amazon Prime’s expanded WNBA coverage.
Thus, taking up commentary, it is imperative that the WNBA legend takes a keen interest in matters happening around the WNBA. Likewise, the 39-year-old recently had her say with the latest all-time lists of AP’s best women’s college basketball players. While Parker seemed happy, she had just one place that she wanted to swap.
Candace Parker Makes A Slight Adjustment To AP’s List Of Best College Basketball Players
AP has, time and again, released its own versions of awards and lists. AP recently crowned Natalie Nakase as the Coach of the Year. Similarly, in their latest attempt, they compiled the best women’s college basketball stars and put them into first and second teams. Coming to the details, the first team consists of Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Candace Parker, Cheryl Miller, and Caitlin Clark, while Sue Bird, Dawn Staley, Chamique Holdsclaw, Maya Moore, and Lusia Harris made the second team.

Soon, Parker was approached for her take on how the teams looked. And while she was pretty much honored to be a part of the first team, the 39-year-old wanted to give up her position. Speaking in an episode of ‘Post Moves,’ Parker stated, “I’m completely honoured and humbled. But I will give up my spot on the first team for Chamique Holdsclaw. Chamique Holdsclaw… [won] three championships in a row. She was the first to do that. She is the leading scorer at the University of Tennessee, dominated college, was like Jordan in college, was on SLAM Magazine before they were just giving covers to everybody.”
The WNBA icon further stated that Holdsclaw’s not being included in the first team hurt her heart and soul significantly. Meanwhile, the 39-year-old has been commenting on various other things too. Recently, she made an honest admission about Cathy Engelbert.

Candace Parker Opens Up On Cathy Engelbert Boos In The WNBA Finals
Cathy Engelbert has become one of the most hated names in the WNBA. Lashing out at her for her alleged lack of accountability, Napheesa Collier had some fiery words for her. Collier also revealed how Engelbert has allegedly told her that Clark must be thankful to the WNBA for being able to make $16 million. Soon, all of this added up. And the fans booed the WNBA commissioner as she was handing out the trophy to the Las Vegas Aces in the finals.

Reacting to the same, Parker commented, “That was crazy. She was talking at the beginning to give the championship trophy, people booed. Then there was a pause, and then she gets to come back up there and give the… Finals MVP to A’ja. They booed the entire time. It was wild.”
Thus, it is evident that Parker still has quite a good hold on all things WNBA. Now, with her stint with Amazon Prime Video coming up, fans are eager to see what new she comes up with next.
