Candace Parker Weighs In On Controversial Napheesa Collier’s Injury Play
The former player spoke about the controversial decision that sparked the entire Lynx vs. WNBA saga, dating back to the WNBA semifinal series. Cameras caught Napheesa Collier’s brutal collision with Alyssa Thomas that ruled out the Minnesota Lynx’s star in Game 3. Though the WNBA and NBA referees upheld the decision, the former champion gave her honest opinion.
“If I’m Napheesa, I want that call. She hit the ball, but she went through her leg. Like Alyssa plays that way, she plays aggressively and physically consistently, and I just feel as though sometimes they let her get away with a little bit more than other players on the defensive end, and this is in no way, shape, or form saying that she should change or that it was intentionally dirty,” added Parker.
Cheryl Reeve later launched an attack on the WNBA officiating, and then Collier’s speech during the exit interview put the WNBA Commissioner in a bad light.
