The CBA negotiations are on, and the WNBA realm is looking quite murky at the moment. As A’ja Wilson’s record-breaking finals MVP performance led the Aces to victory, the celebrations are expected to continue for days. But in reality, the athletes will be utterly concerned for their future in the league. After all, with no concrete offerings on how the revenue-sharing will be implemented, there is a possibility of work stoppage lurking.
However, under such a sensitive situation, NBA legend Charles Barkley had some words of wisdom to share. Barkley stated that the athletes must keep in mind that not all of them are on equal footing. While superstars exist, lesser-known athletes must avoid pushing the deal too far.
Charles Barkley Has A Friendly Warning For WNBA Athletes
Barkley recently appeared on the ‘Rich Essien Show.’ Speaking about the ongoing unrest in the WNBA, the NBA legend asked the players to proceed with caution. He pointed out how pushing the billionaire businessmen to their limits will not be a good idea. Instead, the athletes must look to get the best deals out of the authorities.

“They need to be very careful. They walking on thin ice right now. Number one, I wish those ladies luck, I want them to get paid as much as possible… I know they doing some great things, but you can’t overplay your hand,” Barkley said.

He also further warned the players by saying that just because the players are talented, they cannot manipulate the billionaires as per their will. They surely need to strike a balance. Now then, with the likes of Barkley chiming in, it is evident that the situation has garnered a lot of attention. Meanwhile, as unrest escalated, Napheesa Collier recently criticized Cathy Engelbert for allegedly lacking accountability.

Napheesa Collier Lashes Out At Cathy Engelbert As Charles Barkley Asked To Play Safe
Collier had an outburst following their semifinal exit from the WNBA. Frustrated at how things have been going on in the league, she stated that the real issue was not finances. Instead, Collier directly pointed her fingers towards the league authorities and called them out for lack of accountability. She also criticized Cathy Engelbert and called the WNBA leadership ‘worst.’

“The real threat to our league isn’t money. It isn’t ratings or even missed calls or even physical play. It’s the lack of accountability from the league office. Since I’ve been in the league, you’ve heard the constant concerns about officiating, and it has now reached levels of inconsistency that plague our sport and undermine the integrity in which it operates,” Collier said.
Surely, this is quite contrary to what Barkley stated recently. With things looking quite complicated, fans will be eager to see what happens next.
