The Phoenix Mercury had no answers to the Las Vegas Aces’ well-organized gameplay as Becky Hammon and Co. clinched their third WNBA championship. While A’ja Wilson’s record-breaking Finals MVP led the Las Vegas Aces to the 2025 WNBA title, Chelsea Grey was also handy in the title run.
Her playmaking and defensive game impacted the championship run. She even set a unique record, winning the WNBA championship and the Unrivaled title in the same year.
Chelsea Gray Becomes First Player To Win Unrivaled And WNBA Titles In Single Year
The depth of the Las Vegas Aces was a critical part of the team’s success, but the starting lineup held significant weight in the games. Led by Wilson, Becky Hammon also trusted the ‘point gawd’ for the crutch plays on both ends of the floor.

Interestingly, her influence was not only on the traditional 5-on-5 games but also in 3-on-3 games, as she won the Unrivaled title too with Rose FC. She won the championship with the side and even captured the Finals MVP accolade in the Unrivaled league. She even set a record as the first player to win both leagues’ championships in a single season.

While the player had been a key piece in the team’s rotation and success, she credited her success to her influential teammate A’ja Wilson.
Chelsea Gray Credits A’ja Wilson For Performance Improvement
As the Aces struggled early in the season, the shooting form of the 33-year-old guard was also one of the worrying aspects of the team. But the player subsequently confided in Wilson about her issues, which corrected her on the court. Her revival from July onwards, where the 12-year veteran averaged 7.1 assists per game, improved her performance tremendously.
According to Gray’s testimony, Wilson motivated her to be the team’s leader in assists, and she achieved it successfully. Chelsea Gray even surpassed Kelsey Plum for second spot on the Aces’ All-Time assists list.
“Our relationship is really honest and real. I’ve cried in front of her. She’s cried in front of me,” Gray explained of Wilson, according to ESPN. The two then returned fierce on the court, clear in their job and intent to get the Aces back on track.
Though the team won its third championship with both stars splitting the three Finals MVP awards between them, the fans will seek even more vigorous play in the future.
