It all came raining for the Las Vegas Aces during their last game against the Los Angeles Sparks. The star guard Chelsea Gray had a historic night while the Aces showed up to the business to snap a 89-74 domination over the Sparks.
The ‘Point Gawd’ worked her magic again in the smackdown of LA on Tuesday. While A’ja Wilson was lighting up the scoreboard with 34 points, Gray quietly made history.
Chelsea Gray Surpassed Kelsey Plum For Franchise Record
During the game, Gray passed her former teammate Kelsey Plum to snag second place on the Aces’ all-time assists list with 947 dimes. She is now trailing only the legendary Becky Hammon’s 1,133. Hopefully, she gets that feat under her belt soon.
The Aces’ X(formerly Twitter) account couldn’t contain its excitement and put up a hype-up post for the champion guard.
“THA #POINTGAWDDDDD is now 2nd for most assists in franchise history!” the account captioned the post.

Gray dropped eight assists in the win, showing off that smooth, pinpoint passing that’s made her a fan favorite. With a career average of 5.9 assists per game, she’s leaving Plum’s 4.0 in the dust and outshining other Aces greats like Danielle Robinson.

Gray’s been a game-changer since joining the Aces in 2021 after balling out with the Sparks. She’s racked up All-Star nods, a Finals MVP trophy, and two WNBA championships, proving she’s way more than just a role player. Back in 2023, she averaged a crazy 7.3 assists per game, nearly stealing the Aces’ single-season record from Hammon.
Aces Coach Was All Love For Chelsea Gray
While the team’s social media management led the way to celebrate the nod, the team was all high and happy inside. Coach Becky Hammon calls her an extension of the coaching staff, and it’s easy to see why.

However, it was a big moment for Gray’s legacy. Those eight assists kept the Aces’ offense humming, perfectly balancing Wilson’s scoring and Jackie Young’s rising star power. Earlier this month, she passed Hammon again, this time for sixth on the WNBA’s all-time assists list with 1,710.
With more games to go in the 2025 season, Gray’s got her eyes on Hammon’s top spot on the Aces’ leaderboard. For now, she’s out there running the show, dishing passes, and keeping the Aces in the hunt for another championship.
