The Chicago Sky is going through an extremely lean patch. While the last season saw them put up their worst numbers, this season turned out to be no different. Ending things with a 10-34 win-loss record, the Sky fans called for Jeff Pagliocca’s firing. In the meantime, the fans will also miss some of their former stars, who are now making merry abroad. And one such name surely is Chennedy Carter.
Carter was known for her aggressive playing style for the Sky. However, after leaving Chicago, the 26-year-old decided to try her luck outside of the WNBA. And well, she is doing just fantastic. In fact, the young hooper is also setting some high standards for herself.
Chennedy Carter Wants To Up Her Game In China
Carter is currently listed with the Wuhan Shengfan in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association. And surely enough, her tendency to score big has borne rich fruit. The 26-year-old has been leading the league with an average of 31.4 points per game. However, despite such a strong showing, the former Sky star is not happy at all. Instead, she wants to level up further.

Setting some stiff challenges for herself, Carter wrote on Threads, “How many times you think i can drop 40 points in a game seriously? my bar to shock myself is now 50 🥳🏁”

Surely, this was quite the call to action for Carter. And she has been scoring on the higher side for quite a long time now. Back in the 2024-25 season, the former WNBA star put up a season-high score of 44 points. But her all-time high score came in 2023, when she managed to score 51 points playing for Bursa, in Turkey. Meanwhile, Carter took a sly dig at the Chicago Sky recently.

Chicago is in dire straits at the moment. While looking to rebuild for the next season, the team has been hit with fresh controversy surrounding Angel Reese. And while the situation has prompted rumors about the Sky trying to part ways with Reese, fans have been lamenting over past mistakes. Likewise, showing frustration over how Sky has let some quality athletes go, a fan posted on social media.

The post included how the team has let go of scorers like Kahleah Copper, Sylvia Fowles, and Courtney Williams. While it missed Carter, the 26-year-old was quick to point it out. Replying to the post, the former Sky star wrote, “I think you are forgetting someone”.
Surely, there have been some missteps from the Sky front office. All the released players have been performing great in other franchises. Thus, with Carter raising the bar, fans now wait to see whether the Sky will reconsider her for the next season.
