The Minnesota Lynx landed the second overall pick in the 2025 WNBA draft following their trade with the Chicago Sky in the 2024 season. While there are multiple choices for the franchise to add a top name through the draft, HC Reeve is playing it cautiously.
Earlier this week, Cheryl Reeve and Danielle Robinson attended the UCLA vs. Texas game, which linked the team to Center Lauren Betts. Though it could be the very feasible and obvious pick for the four-time champions, Reeve is looking to nail the selection.

Cheryl Reeve Is Confident On Landing Strong Player
Natisha Heideman and Courtney Williams represented the Lynx on the lottery draft night and came up with the second overall pick. Considering the depth of the current draft class, there are six to seven players capable of making an immediate impact on the franchises. However, HC Reeves is looking to make it a ‘perfect’ selection, considering the long-term future of the team.
“We are excited to have secured the number two pick in the 2026 draft. This selection will no doubt be an important part of our future as we continue our pursuit of a fifth WNBA Championship,” Cheryl Reeve said.

Cheryl Reeve Could Use Second Overall Pick To Add Depth
The 2024 finalist finished first in the league during the 2025 season and was the only team in the postseason to record a clean sweep (apart from the WNBA finals), but they couldn’t beat the Mercury team.

Looking at the depth of the side, it’s obvious that Reeve will be looking for a talented forward to train under Napheesa Collier and co. While they will be filling up the guard position with a free agency signing.
Apart from Lauren Betts, the team could also look into players like Flau’jae Johnson and Awa Fam, who are currently playing at a high level. Ole Miles’ Cotie McMahon would need to push hard for her place in the top picks.
