The Minnesota Lynx are enjoying one of the finest runs this season. Riding high on the back of some impeccable performances, Lynx secured the first WNBA 2025 playoff spot. Looking to redo the red on their ledger from last year, the team is looking locked in towards their championship ambitions. However, amidst all the rosy talks, an injury was the last thing that the team would have wanted. And with DiJonai Carrington, that is exactly the situation that Lynx are facing at the moment.
Lynx faced off against the Dallas Wings last Monday. And while the team had a comfortable victory, things went pretty awry for Carrington. While the 27-year-old left with an injury, coach Cheryl Reeve revealed the latest update on the athlete.
Cheryl Reeve Uncertain On DiJonai Carrington’s Situation
Carrington hurt her shoulder in the second quarter against the Wings. Shedding light on the same, head coach Reeve stated that the 27-year-old star might have suffered a subflex left shoulder. Well, in simple terms, it translates to a partial dislocation. However, Reeve refused to comment further on the same. She stated that at the moment, there were no confirmed updates on a set return timeline.

“(Dijonai) has a subluxed shoulder. She told me she played defense too hard and I think when she kind of slapped down the ball, you know, it subluxed a little bit. I don’t have an update, I just know this is something that she deals with and so they deemed, decided for her not to return, but I don’t know where we’re at with things,” said Carrington.

Well, this might seem like bad news for the fans. But some further digging might clear things up. Earlier this season, the now Lynx star suffered a similar injury with the Wings. Thankfully, she did not miss any game time and came right back into the mix. This time, too, the Minnesota fans are hoping that the injury is not a serious one. After all, the induction of Carrington to Minnesota proved to be a complete game-changer.

DiJonai Carrington Trade Proved To Be A Game-Changer For Minnesota
Carrington might be receiving horrific and abusive comments from certain fans. However, considering the impact she had on the Lynx, there are surely a lot of admirers of the 27-year-old. Back in early August, Minnesota decided to land the former Dallas Wings’ star. Boasting a win-loss record of 22-8 back then, the WNBA star proved to be the missing link for the Lynx. And looking at the former Wings’ star, too, it seemed that she had found a new rhythm.

For example, back in Dallas, Carrinton had a 35.4% with an average of 10.4 points. But after only three games for Minnesota, the numbers shot up to a whopping 62.5% and 13.3 points per game, as per SB Nation. Surely, she is proving that her 2024 Most Improved Player award was not a mere fluke. However, with injury clouds looming large, fans are now hoping for a quick turnaround from the 27-year-old.
