The Minnesota Lynx are on the rise. Winning 28 games while losing on just five occasions, the team looks like a champion. Their joy was further elevated after their recent win against arch-rival New York Liberty. After all, this was the third occasion this year when the Liberty failed to win against the Lynx. One of the main architects of the victory was undoubtedly Courtney Williams.
Williams has emerged as one of the biggest draws of the league. With her ‘Studbudz’ commentary, the likes of Tyrese Haliburton had requested merchandise from the Lynx star. And now, with her verbal attack on Liberty, backed by some stellar on-court performance, coach Cheryl Reeve was bound to comment on the WNBA icon.
Cheryl Reeve Reveals Actual Reason For Courtney Williams’ Five-Star Show
Williams dropped one of the best performances of her career against the Liberty. Playing for thirty-five minutes, the 31-year-old star dropped 26 points. She also backed it up with an impressive five rebounds and five assists. And that was not all. Williams also had an improved 10-of-18 shooting from the field.

However, according to HC Cheryl Reeve, all of this outburst had to come in. Otherwise, the WNBA veteran might have risked herself getting humiliated online in the exact same manner when she was denied entry at a nightclub. After all, ahead of the game, the 2x WNBA All-Star shared some of her explicit thoughts about the New York Liberty.
“It’s my understanding that Courtney may of poked the bear a little bit on the other side with some words on a stream that they do. So you don’t go from a birkin bag to a target bag. So she had to back that up,” Reeve said.

Surely, this was a strong statement delivered by the 2016 rookie. After all, trash-talking about an opponent and then actually delivering on the court is not everyone’s cup of tea. Meanwhile, as Williams comments about her arch-rival doing the rounds, here’s a snippet of what actually transpired.
What Exactly Did Courtney Williams Say About The New York Liberty?
It all started when Jaylyn Sherrod joined the New York Liberty. After a couple of sessions with the Liberty, Sherrod will now don the Lynx jersey. Now, while the 31-year-old was extremely happy to welcome her, she also addressed Liberty as a “punk a**” team. Within moments, the comment went viral on the internet. However, when asked how she felt about playing against Liberty, Williams’ response was quite toned down.
“The fire is there they beat us last year, I don’t need more ammunition. I don’t like them, I love them as people… but when it comes to basketball, no it’s nothing, I don’t want them to win,” said Williams.

Thus, it is evident that things are looking pretty much upbeat for Williams and Liberty. Now, it remains to be seen how they can keep up with the good work in the long run.
