The Chicago Sky is moving up in the league standings, racking up wins. With recent back-to-back wins over the Los Angeles Sparks, the side now stands in the 10th position in the league. Even though the side had a rough start, one player was consistent, and even now, she is a driving force for their current surge. And the star is none other than Angel Reese.
With mammoth performances on a nightly basis, Reese is finally closing on her full potential and contributing heavily to the side’s wins. Particularly in the last week, Reese averaged 19.7 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and nearly a block per game. All this was achieved with 48.9% from the field and 92.3% from charity line shooting. While the WNBA honored her with the Player of the Week Award, the franchise also made a post celebrating her other achievement.
Chicago Sky Puts Angel Reese Among the Franchise Greats
In the Chicago Sky’s recent 92-85 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese had 24 points, 16 rebounds, and seven assists – all game highs. But remarkably, her 10th rebound of the game made history for the ‘Chi-Town Barbie’ as she entered the top-10 players with most rebounds in Chicago Sky history. After the game, the franchise shared the post confirming that the 2024 rookie has surpassed Stefanie Dolson with 647 rebounds.

Sylvia Fowles leads the chart with 1832 rebounds, while Courtney Vandersloot is second with 1166 rebounds. Reese now needs 34 rebounds to overtake ninth-place Ally Quigley, who has 680 rebounds. Interestingly, Dolson took 123 games to reach the 642 rebounds, while Reese reached the mark in just 50 games.

Records Around The Board Continue To Fall For Angel Reese
Known for her rebounding ability, Angel Reese continues to control the board. Last season, she was the league leader in rebounds, setting a record with a 13.1 rebounds average in the season. She was the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 400 rebounds and 400 points, and she strung together 26 double-doubles in just 34 games, the most ever by a rookie.
In her sophomore season, Reese is again the WNBA’s rebound leader, with 12.6 rebounds per game. She completed 500 boards and 500 points in her sophomore season, becoming the fastest player ever to reach the milestone. Her recent game outings were astonishing. She marshalled the paint area with at least 15 rebounds per game for four straight games, the most by any player in WNBA history. While Reese carries a bigger load for her side, her teammates must also step up to help the former LSU star win games.
