Following the 13-27 record in the 2024 season, the Chicago team could win only 110 games in 2025. The downfall was concerning and raised fears of losing some star players in their pursuit of a championship. Assistant Coach Shimmy Grey-Miller warned the Chicago Sky about the risks of losing Angel Reese. Although management can’t add players at the moment, it has added a strong, defensive-minded coach, Latricia Tramell, to its staff to improve the team’s performance.
In the 2025 season, Tramell served as a scout and special assistant with the Los Angeles Sparks and will rejoin the team in a more active role following her new appointment with the Windy City franchise.

Chicago Sky Adds Latricia Tramell As Assistant Coach
ESPN’s power ranking placed the Chicago Sky in last position for the 2026 season, highlighting their struggles over the period. Although the team had multiple top picks and players on the floor, they finished 12th in the league standings, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.
The 2021 champions are shaking the coaching staff again in search of an improvement, and added Tramell as a special assistant coach. As per reports, Trammell will replace assistant coach Courtney Paris.

In 2023, Trammell was hired as the head coach of the Dallas Wings, where she spent two seasons and earned recognition as the runner-up for WNBA Coach of the Year in her debut season.
While Ajsa Sivka emerged as the Chicago Sky’s overlooked draft jewel, bringing fresh offseason hope, the addition of Tramell will also boost their performance and help them win a few more games in the upcoming season. Yet there is a lot of work left before the start of the 2026 season for the Sky front office.
Chicago Sky Look For Upgrade in 2026 Season
Despite adding an NBA experience coach, the Sky’s season struggled from the start, never really taking off until the end of the season. Angel Reese remained the only shining star for the side, while Kamilla Cardoso delivered some memorable performances for the team; however, the rest of the squad’s inconsistency hurt the team.

In the 2026 season, apart from the addition of defensive specialist Tramell, the side has many unanswered questions – starting with the future of superstar Angel Reese and the potential additions of veteran players from free agency.
Currently, the team holds the fifth pick in the 2026 WNBA draft and lost its second pick to the Minnesota Lynx in a trade last season. With a deep and talented draft pool, the side will look for an impactful player to support Tyler Marsh’s game plan.
