The Chicago Sky honored one of their all-time greats by retiring her jersey on Wednesday night. This legend was none other than the sharpshooter Allie Quigley. During the event, her wife and current Sky guard, Courtney Vandersloot, also delivered a heartfelt tribute as Quigley’s No. 14 lifted into the rafters at Wintrust Arena.
Notably, Candace Parker’s No. 3 jersey was supposed to be retired later this season. But Quigley’s jersey became the first to be retired by the team. However, it should not come as a surprise. With everything Quigley has done for the league and her team, this is just a small thing Sky could have done. She is a known veteran to many and is one of the pioneers in the sport.
Allie Quigley Knows A Thing Or Two About Being First
First-time honors reflect the story of Quigley’s remarkable decade-long career with the Chicago Sky. She became the first WNBA player to win four All-Star 3-Point Contests and was a key leader during the Sky’s 2021 championship run, serving as team captain.
It’s no surprise the Chicago Sky chose Allie Quigley as the first player in franchise history to have her jersey retired. A Chicagoland native through and through, she played at Joliet Catholic, DePaul, and ultimately with the Sky, keeping her basketball journey deeply rooted in the city. Though she never sought the spotlight, Chicago used Wednesday’s tribute as the perfect opportunity to celebrate her legacy fully.
Quigley chose Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter and his wife, Courtney Vandersloot, to speak during the halftime ceremony. Supported by a single crutch during her recuperation from a season-ending ACL injury, Vandersloot was teary-eyed as she spoke about how she would tell their baby, Jana, about Quigley’s career.
Courtney Vandersloot Speaks On Allie Quigley
Vandersloot and Quigley are a couple, but their careers have aligned perfectly. In most areas of the Sky’s all-time career records, including games played, assists, steals, field goals attempted and made, and points scored, they rank first and second, respectively.

Quigley has the record for the most points scored by a Sky player. Vandersloot broke the record recently. After playing for the squad for three more seasons than Allie Quigley, she is currently at the top of every category. Still, she had high praise for her partner.
“My life’s mission that Jana will not only know how great of a shooter her mom is — the purest and best-looking jumper the game has ever seen — but also how strong her float game is, how sneaky her handle is, and even though she was the sweetest person on the floor, she had a little nasty to her. I will make sure she understands her mom’s loyalty, commitment and absolute team-player mentality is what every franchise dreams of when choosing their players,” Vandersloot said.

Quigley hit an incredible 39.4% from beyond the arc and averaged 10.9 points per game during her career. And Quigley wasn’t just excellent; she was historic in the three-point competition. She set records in the WNBA and NBA by winning the championship twice in 2017 and 2021.
