In 2025, nothing is going right for the Chicago Sky; neither the results on the court nor the locker room atmosphere are positive. Angel Reese’s public criticism opened up the possibility of a new era for the side. Many analysts predict that this could be Chi Town Barbie’s last year with the Sky.
To make things worse, the forward sat out of the game against the Las Vegas Aces. Reese’s decision could be a season-ending decision and here are possible destinations for the two-time All-Star.
Possible Destination For Angel Reese
Even though the Chicago Sky finished the season with their lowest-ever win percentage, the former LSU star had a productive season, improving on her first year in the ‘W’. The franchise could get huge returns for its prized asset and build upon it for the future.

Dallas Wings
Analyst Jason Whitelock mentioned that no one wants to play with Rees, but also added that the player is looking to team up with Paige Bueckers in Dallas. With the 2025 Rookie of the Year contender on the roster, the team had the worst record in the league. They need a solid upgrade, especially in the forward’s position. Pairing Reese with Paige Bueckers could be alluring for a franchise.
The strong and young backcourt-frontcourt duo could be the cornerstone for the team that has a chance to add talents in the 2026 and 202WNBA drafts. While the Sky will look to pick a few of those picks in return for their player, getting developing Reese would provide the Wings with an instant upgrade.
Phoenix Mercury
This could be a surprising name in the list, but a very potent one considering the package they can offer. The Mercury already took Kahleah Copper from the Sky, and now another young talent could be huge for their chances to win the title in the coming years.

Reese lacked veteran guidance in the Chicago Sky; she will get that plenty at the champion franchise. With Copper, Satou Sabally, and Alyssa Tomas around, it will be a massive learning opportunity for the 23-year-old star who could then become the centerpiece of the franchise.
Seattle Storm
Another interesting option would be the young and dynamic Seattle Storm, which is looking to freshen things up in the 2026 season with multiple stars eligible for free agency. Though they can not offer much in return, their top draft picks could tempt the Sky to go ahead with the trade.
The Diggins-Ogwumike era could be reaching its final stage, and the franchise will now stack up the front court with Malonga as their top player. They might add another guard in the wild 2025 off-season, but wouldn’t pass on the opportunity to have a player of Reese’s caliber on a rookie contract.
WNBA Executive Urges Angel Reese To Request A Trade
While there are still questions over whether the franchise will trade the 2024 rookie, a WNBA executive urges the star to request a trade. The request came after management decided to suspend her from the game against the Aces. Though it was just a first-half suspension, and Sky released a statement about Reese’s suspension, a WNBA executive was not happy about it.
“She needs to get the hell out of there. Chicago is probably the worst-run organization in the league. You’re gonna suspend your best player just because she’s putting pressure on you to get better? That was embarrassing to see,” the WNBA exec told DallasHoopsJournal.

While the executive’s name is kept under wraps, the general consensus in the league indicates that the forward could leave the Chicago franchise.
