The fans were optimistic about head coach Tyler Marsh and Angel Reese’s collaboration. The 37-year-old basketball brain was a key factor in developing players in championship sides like the Las Vegas Aces and Toronto Raptors. His addition to the Chicago Sky would have upped the production of the former LSU star and Kamila Cardoso, who were centerpieces of the team’s plans.
Yet the results were opposite of what the fans were hoping for. Their recent 38-point loss against the Seattle Storm was too much to digest, and many criticized the HC for it. But veteran center Elizabeth Williams defends her HC in the interview.
Elizabeth Williams Defends Tyler Marsh Amid Season’s Biggest Loss
The first-year HC blasted at poor efforts and performance from his side against the Seattle Storm. Furious with the worst performance from the players, the coach didn’t blame injuries or fatigue for the heavy defeat. The 2016 MIP center also sided with her coach and asked players to take responsibility and work on their skills.
“It’s starts with us. I don’t think it’s anything Tyler’s doing to be honest with you. We haven’t executed. We haven’t taken care of the ball,“ Williams told reporters (Via X/@KarliBell33).
With Angel Reese, Michaela Onyenwere, and Ariel Atkins out of the rotation for the game, the side struggled offensively. Only Kamila Cardoso put up some fight with a 13-point and 13-rebound performance. Williams scored 11 points while Rachel Bahman added 13 points, while other players failed to cross the double-digit scoring mark.
Their next challenge will be the reigning Commissioner’s Cup winners, the Indiana Fever. The United Center will host the game on July 27, and both sides will be looking to strengthen their positions in the standings.

Chicago Sky’s Same Mistakes Led To Loss Against Storm
A devastating loss at home was heartbreaking. The team couldn’t win a single quarter and even scored eight points in the second quarter in the humiliating loss. This was their third-lowest total posted in a regular-season game this season. But the same errors are constantly hampering the Windy City franchise.

Even though losing the team’s top three scorers for the game (Atkins, Reese, and Vandersloot) was a big blow for the side, their overall performance was not even close to a fight. The team’s third-quarter struggles this season have cost them many games. They scored just 17 points against the storm and gave away 37 points, putting a massive points difference entering the final 10 minutes.
Moreover, turnovers (19), points off turnovers, and poor scoring efficiency (34%) affected their offensive rhythm. The team’s defensive lapses were visible without their record-breaking superstar on the court.
