The WNBA season has just ended. But it has paved the way for a lot of interesting discussions. And one of the most critical among them is surely the CBA talks. With players like Satou Sabally pushing for higher rookie pay, the situation seems to be quite tense. Meanwhile, as the CBA negotiations are taking the majority of the limelight, there is one more thing for the WNBA fans to get excited about. And that is the upcoming WNBA Draft. With new players looking to make a mark on the big stage, South Carolina star Chloe Kitts was left heartbroken.
In recent years, the rookies have been ruling the WNBA realm. Be it Caitlin Clark, the previous year, or Paige Bueckers this year. Unfortunately, for Kitts, the event will be a missed opportunity.
Chloe Kitts Pens Heartfelt Note After Being Sidelined With ACL Injury
Kitts had been a two-year starter for the Gamecocks for the past few years. The young phenom already proved her worth last season as she clinched the Southeastern Conference Tournament MVP. She also won the NCAA Binghamton Regional MVP award. And that’s not all. With averages of 10.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game last year, Kitts made a strong case for herself to dominate the WNBA draft this year.

In a recent update on social media, the South Carolina forward informed about her ACL tear. She also pointed out that the injury will keep her out of action for the rest of the season. “Thank you for everyone who has reached out with love and support. I recently suffered a torn ACL and, unfortunately, will be out for the season. While this isn’t how I hoped my season would go, I’m trusting God’s timing and purpose. I’ll continue to lead, support and push my teammates from the sidelines. We have big things ahead!” Kitts wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Now then, Kitts’ injury not only posed a problem for her WNBA draft eligibility, but also for her team. That’s because South Carolina already had Ashlyn Watkins sidelined in January due to an ACL injury. Meanwhile, as Kitts will be waiting for her ACL to heal, Spanish teen sensation Awa Fam is getting ready for the WNBA draft.

Awa Fam Boosts Her WNBA Case As Chloe Kitts Navigate A Tough Path To Healing
This year, the WNBA draft is expected to be a pretty interesting affair. With the league booming in the past few years, a high-quality line-up of talents will be coming in. And surely enough, some of the names included are Awa Fam, Chloe Kitts, and Lauren Betts. And while Kitts has likely missed her chance to be in high demand, Fam is making sure that she is ready.

Playing for Valencia, the 19-year-old phenom had a fantastic game recently. Squaring off against the IDK Euskotren, Fam played for 25 minutes. Weaving her magic on the hardwood, the Spanish star dropped 17 points with nine rebounds and one assist. Fam also shot 6-7 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line. Courtesy of such a great performance, Valencia managed to edge out IDK Euskotren 69-54. Thus, as the WNBA draft approaches, several talents are working hard to impress. Unfortunately for Kitts, she will have to hope that she can heal just in time.
