The Dallas Wings are having a dismal season this year. Acquiring the likes of Paige Bueckers, the team had a lot of expectations coming into the season. Unfortunately, while Bueckers has been getting shoutouts from the WNBA. The team as a whole has not performed up to the mark. In fact, with just nine victories and 25 wins, the team is lingering in the 11th spot. With all eyes on Chris Koclanes, a renowned WNBA analyst, he has some interesting news to share.
Koclanes joined the Dallas Wings earlier this year. Unfortunately, with the team struggling, things are looking quite bleak for the HC. Fans and critics alike are currently rooting for Koclanes’ termination. Nonetheless, with a lot of speculation going on, a very unique analysis has been put forth.
Will Chris Koclanes Get Another Shot At Redemption?
ESPN analyst Michael Voepel has been one of the active voices in the hoops world. And as per his analysis, Koclanes will be staying around for another season. Making his argument for the case, the analyst pointed out that at least seven teams changed their coaches after the 2024 season. And surprisingly, five of those teams are currently sitting outside the playoff positions.

Thus, it is quite unlikely that Koclanes will be getting the stick after one season. Not only that, Voepel also had other credible justifications for his statement. He pointed out how none of the players have shown frustrations against their coach. And not to mention Koclanes’ good rapport with Dallas’ general manager, Curt Miller.
“Consider that the players themselves haven’t said anything about this, and Koclanes has a long connection to general manager Curt Miller. Both are in their first season in Dallas. It’s not unheard of for teams to part ways with a coach after just one year — Chicago did it with Teresa Weatherspoon after last season — but it seems less likely to happen with Koclanes,” said Voepel as quoted by Sports Illustrated.

Surely, Voepel has a legitimate point here. Despite all the setbacks, he has constantly backed his resources. For example, following Paige Bueckers’ splendid performance against the Indiana Fever, the 23-year-old Bueckers earned Koclanes’ praise. Such a stance has led to team veterans like Myisha Hines-Allen coming forward to support Koclanes.
Myisha Hines-Allen Pacifies Angry Crowd While Defending Chris Koclanes
The Wings’ fans have constantly been at loggerheads about the potential recruiting of Koclanes. As a result, they have thrown objects on the court and have shown up wearing ‘We Want Nola’ t-shirts. Looking at such unrest, Wings’ veteran Myisha Hines-Allen stepped up and interacted with the fans.
“When it feels like the fans are against us, it’s harder to build that connection,” Hines-Allen could be heard saying.
Hines-Allen could be seen speaking to the fans and asking them to stop their protests. She also requested them to stop wearing the ‘We Want Nola’ t-shirts. Thus, with things looking favorable, Koclanes might just get another shot at proving his worth with the Dallas Wings.
