Skyler Digging hit the rim in the closing moments of the game, finally ending the first-ever double overtime game in the WNBA. Kelsey Plum was happy with her defending as the star was the last line of defense for the victorious team. The Seattle Storm players were bummed, and the most frustrated in the press conference was their coach, Noelle Quinn.
The coach blasted the officiating for the loss. Even though the team gave a tough fight in front of the home fans, the result took away all the energy from the Climate Pledge Arena.
Coach Noelle Quinn Blames Officiating For Loss Against Sparks
The WNBA had one of its best games in recent years. The Seattle Storm and LA Sparks matched each other possession by possession, putting forward the best show for the fans. In the end, the visitors grabbed a thrilling 108-106 victory. When asked about the game, the Seattle Storm HC was not happy about the refereeing.
“Sky played 43 minutes and took zero free throws — it’s ridiculous. Maybe I have to come up here and get fined and rant, rant, and rave for us to get respect and consistency. That’s all I want. I’m not a coach who complains often, but I see what happens when people come up here and do it, so now I’m about to do it. Forty-three minutes and zero free throws is bulls—. Period,” Quinn said for her star guard Skylar Diggins.
The former point guard also felt unjust when the LA Sparks ‘wrongly’ got the possession in the final minute of the regular time. The ball clearly touched Kelsey Plum before going out of bounds, But the on-court umpires gave decision in favor of the visitors.
The WNBA All-Star record maker had a low-scoring night. The Sparks’ defensive unit heavily guarded her. As per her coach, no fouls were called on her, resulting in the loss.

Noelle Quinn’s Side Losing Momentum In 2025 Season
At the start of the season, the four-time champion side was a surprise front-runner for the early playoff spot. The team, with a 10-6 record, suddenly lost a few games they should have won.

Since the loss against the Indiana Fever on June 25, they had a 6-6 record, putting them in sixth position with a 16-12 record. With Ogwumike only performing consistently for the side, the 40-year-old HC will look for better output from others as well.
The side will have two tough home games next, against the Fever and the Minnesota Lynx. Win over these two opponents will put them right on track for the playoff.
