The Connecticut Sun has been coming up in the news recently. Unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons, apparently. With the sale of the club creating ripples, the Sun’s negotiations prompted Richard Blumenthal to intervene.
However, at the moment, the noise regarding their sale looks to have subsided a little. This has allowed the team to concentrate on making a stellar team in the coming season. And one of the best ways to do that is undoubtedly the WNBA Draft.
Despite the WNBPA almost rejecting the proposed $1.1 million max-salary offer, the preparations for the next season are ongoing. And according to the recent mock draft made by ESPN, here’s where the Sun stands.

Where Does The Connecticut Sun Stand In The Mock Draft?
The official WNBA Draft lottery is scheduled for November 23. But before that, ESPN put together a mock draft. And according to the list, the likes of Awa Fam, Lauren Betts, Olivia Miles, and Azzi Fudd go to the Dallas Wings, Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, and the Washington Mystics, respectively.
Unfortunately for the Sun, they will likely not have a pick until number 12 or 15. And as per ESPN’s prediction, it might be, in all probability, the Spanish point guard Iyana Martin Carrion.
ESPN also had a detailed explanation of why Carrion would be a good choice. It read, “In April, she was named Young Player of the Year for her EuroLeague debut season with Perfumerias Avenida. Fam’s teammate on the Spanish national team, Martin Carrion also helped that squad advance to the EuroBasket championship game this summer. She turns 20 in January.”

They also stated that for their No. 15 pick, the team might side with French small forward Nell Angloma. Meanwhile, as the front office will be busy with the draft, they will also look to sort out their relocation issues. Recently, their General Manager refused to confirm relocation.
Morgan Tuck Unsure About Connecticut Sun’s Relocation
The Sun’s sale was pretty much a controversial topic right from the beginning. In comparison, the WNBA blocked the sale when Steve Pagliuca emerged as a possible buyer. However, the calls for relocation to Boston have been rising rapidly.

Commenting on the matter, the Sun general manager, Tuck, said, “I can’t really give an answer because I don’t know. But I think it’s always a good thing that people want a team. They want a ‘W’ to be here. Now, will they get it or not? Who knows, but it’s a good problem to have.”
