Maybe the return of Napheesa Collier or injuries impacted the Indiana Fever’s performances, but the Minnesota Lynx looked refreshed and in complete control of the game. While emotional Collier shone with a high-scoring game, it was also Courtney Williams’ night.
The star guard recorded a double-double performance with 14 points and 10 assists. She also set a franchise record during a 97-85 win over the Fever team.
Courtney Williams Set A Franchise Record For Minnesota Lynx
Every player in the Lynx franchise has been performing at a top level since losing the 2024 championship series. Collier is a strong MVP candidate, while Williams and Kayla McBride are also stepping up to the task at hand. During Phee’s absence, the side maintained its strong run in the season.

In the game against the Fever, four different players scored in double figures while the 31-year-old guard played a key role as a playmaker. She provided 10 assists in the game, taking her season tally to 230 assists in 36 games. This marks a franchise record for the former champion team. With seven more games left in the season, the two-time All-Star could easily extend the record.
Apart from Williams, Napheesa Collier also made a massive impact on the game. She scored 32 points on her return from injury. The star missed seven games in the season, and her timely return could provide the team with a boost in the closing phases of the regular season. Williams also hyped up her superstar forward’s return.

Courtney Williams Credits Lindsay Whalen For Success in 2025 Season
It’s interesting to watch a shooting guard taking over the point guard position and setting a franchise record for the most assists in a single season. For the change in role and adjustments she credited the franchise legend Lindsey Whalen.
“Honestly, I think it’s having Lindsay [Whalen], She’s constantly in my ear just telling me different things that I can improve, the way I can look at the game. A mixture of her and Cheryl just constantly in my ear, letting me know how I can be better,” Williams told the media.
Nevertheless, the 31-year-old star is thriving in her new role and will look for a similar impact in the playoffs to win her first title.
