The Dallas Wings did not have a memorable outing last year. Despite acquiring the services of the rookie star Paige Bueckers, the team looked lacklustre in their performance.
Thankfully, as Bueckers seems to be carrying her WNBA form this year, too, the Wings are once again dreaming about a potential merry run. Now, if Bueckers receives capable teammates, she could lead a turnaround for Dallas.
Unfortunately, that is not the end of their worries. Looking to expand its fanbase, the franchise had a grim update to share recently.

Dallas Wings Delivers Bad News For Fans Ahead Of 2026 Season
The Wings planned to move to a new practice facility this March. Recent updates revealed that slow progress has significantly hampered the goals. As a result, the $48.6 million facility’s opening has been pushed back by a year, to March 2027.
Speaking on the matter, Dallas Wings CEO Greg Bibb told Dallas Morning News’ Myah Taylor, “Obviously, I’m disappointed that we’re not getting ready to move into two facilities that we thought we were going to be moving into when we signed the agreement. But I do believe in the city and its leadership. And I do believe in the vision of what the city has for the next decade downtown.”

Surely, such an update comes as a major bummer for the team. In addition to the same, there was more grim news coming in. The Wings planned to move their WNBA games to the bigger Memorial Auditorium, but officials will not refurbish it until 2027. Meanwhile, with the infrastructure in jeopardy, head coach Jose Fernandez detailed his plans with Bueckers.
Jose Fernandez Wants Paige Bueckers To Take Charge For Dallas Wings
With new head coach Jose Fernandez at the helm, the team expects things to change for the better in 2026. And while the plan would be to inject some quality into the roster, Fernandez revealed that Bueckers forms a central part of his plan.

Speaking to Khristina Williams on the ‘In Case You Missed It’ podcast, Fernandez said, “Paige is a very good basketball player. She’s one of the faces of the league and the future of the WNBA and also USA basketball. She wants to be coached. She wants to win. So, that’s plain and simple.”
Thus, with things getting a bit murky, fans are eager to know what’s next.
