Being the general manager of a high-profile WNBA team sounds pretty fancy. But in reality, things are far from how they appear from the outside. Take the Dallas Wings’ general manager, Curt Miller, for example.
After having high expectations from the team, Miller saw the Wings finish last this year in the league. And as the management fired head coach Chris Koclanes, it was Miller who had the tiring task of finding a new head coach.
Well, finally, after trying a lot of permutations and combinations, the Dallas Wings announced Jose Fernandez as their next head coach. And despite the job being hectic, Miller is full of gratitude for the same.
Curt Miller Is Enjoying His Role At Dallas Wings
Miller has an elaborate career in the realm of basketball. Before joining the Wings, he served as the head coach for the Los Angeles Sparks. And it was Miller’s exceptional management skills that attracted the eyes of many. Eventually, on November 8, 2024, Miller took on the responsibility of being the Wings’ general manager.

Now then, Miller’s role demands him to travel a lot. And more often than not, the Wings GM has to travel abroad. Likewise, in a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Miller seemed to have landed in Valencia, Spain. And he could not be more grateful for having such an opportunity.
“Blessed as basketball continues to take me all over the World ✈️. #Wings” wrote Miller.

Surely, now that he has a new head coach, Miller would feel a bit relieved. Together with Paige Bueckers, the Wings’ general manager would want the team to reach new heights this time around. And while Miller couldn’t stop praising Bueckers, he remained optimistic about the next season.
Curt Miller Wants To Build The Team Around Paige Bueckers
Without any hint of doubt, Bueckers has been the find of the season. Not only for the Wings, but also for the WNBA overall. Now then, the Dallas rookie was phenomenal in her approach. Putting on a stellar display of basketball, Bueckers took home the coveted Rookie of the Year award. Thus, quite naturally, Miller now wants to build his team around the 23-year-old.

“I struggled early in my career to rip the Band-Aid off when there wasn’t a perfect fit or maybe there was a move that was a little bit scary to make. Sometimes failing fast is beneficial,” Miller said. “Bring other great players to play with her [Paige Bueckers], alongside her, and build this Dallas team into what we ultimately hope is a championship.”
Thus, with the Dallas Wings trying hard to bounce back, it is evident that Bueckers is someone who is holding the aces.
