The Dallas Wings will be hoping to play out the final stretch of the 2025 season without any hiccups. The side suffered a lot in the season. Dallas Wings even faced the WNBA forfeit risk in the season’s closing stages. But there is still more concerning news for the team as a new update on Paige Bueckers will mount pressure on the ‘remaining’ roster.
The Texas-based team will host the league leaders, the Minnesota Lynx, on September 1. Ahead of the game, the team’s leading scorer has an unfortunate injury update.
Dallas Wings Share Paige Bueckers’ Injury Update
The side has the worst record in the league with nine wins in 40 games played so far. This is by far the franchise’s worst performance since moving to Dallas. With four games remaining in the season, the team could still salvage some pride by bettering its record with some wins. For that, Coach Chris Koclanes is heavily reliant on his superstar rookie.

The 22-year-old has already broken many records in her first season with the Wings. She came close to emulating Caitlin Clark’s impressive first year in the ‘W’. Near the end of the season, ESPN ranked Paige Bueckers as the second-best young player (below 25 years) in the league, only behind Clark.
It’s obvious that the team wants massive production from the player. But according to the recent update, PB is listed as probable for the game against the Lynx following a left calf issue.

She averages approximately 19 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals per contest. She had already sat out eight games in the season, and without her, the team only managed to win one game against the Washington Mystics on June 28. Moreover, it will be hard to overcome their next opponents, the Lynx, who recently broke the franchise’s win record and will be aiming to add to the record.
Paige Bueckers On Verge Of Unwanted Rookie Record
Despite the team’s poor performance, the former UConn star is certain to win the Rookie of the Year award. Her individual brilliance was on full display in the league, as she single-handedly tried to win games. But winning the exclusive accolade would hand her an unwanted record of the ROY winner with the fewest wins in the season.

21 — Elena Delle Donne (2013)
20 — Caitlin Clark (2024)

The current record holders are Jewell Lloyd (2015 winner) and Seimone Augustus (2006 winner), who have 10 wins in their respective seasons. With Paige’s absence nearly confirmed against the Lynx, the side will have to put in extra efforts to win the game to help PB avoid the unwanted record.
