Paige Bueckers just got confirmation on who she will be pairing up with for the rest of the season. Playing for the Dallas Wings, Bueckers has been phenomenal this year. However, despite her incredible performance, the Wings’ lack of support from her teammates has made them falter significantly. But with a recent announcement, Bueckers now has a chance to try to turn the tide.
The Dallas Wings have been pinned down by a host of issues this year. Their poor run has made the fans turn against the team. As a result, they are now vehemently opposing the appointment of their head coach, Chris Koclanes. Surely, while this is a precarious situation for a team to be in, the Wings have made a last-ditch effort to salvage their drowning season.
Dallas Wings Put Their Faith In Grace Berger
In a recent update from the Wings, the team has reportedly signed Grace Berger to a rest-of-season contract. She will now be available for the game against the Indiana Fever. Surely, management has not made this decision hastily. Before the current contract, Berger had already been signed thrice to a seven-day contract. However, despite getting the opportunity, the 26-year-old has struggled to score consistently.
She has averaged 2.0 points per game and has shot a mere 22.2 percent from the field. What is even more concerning is the fact that Berger is yet to score from the three-point mark. Thus, her inclusion for the rest of the season means that the management has shown a lot of faith in the point guard. Now then, with Berger playing till the end of the season, she will significantly impact the team’s chemistry.

First of all, Bueckers will be shifting to a shooting guard role. Moreover, with the 26-year-old around, the Wings can have the luxury to play both Arike Ogunbowale and Bueckers on the wings. And with JJ Quinerly chipping in as well, the Wings now have two substitute point guards to fall back on. Meanwhile, the latest contract will be a second chance for Berger, for she was almost down and out just a month back.
Grace Berger Had A Sorry Run Prior To Her Renewed Dallas Wings Contract
Berger has been around the WNBA circuit for quite some time now. Unfortunately, she was unable to find a permanent team a month ago. On July 16, the Wings signed the 26-year-old on a 7-day hardship contract. However, after only playing against the Seattle Storm for ten minutes, the Wings cut off Berger.

Surely, it was a frustrating phase for Berger. This was because the Wings became the fourth team to waive her. The guard debuted with the Indiana Fever back in 2023. Since then, she has played for the Minnesota Lynx, Los Angeles Sparks, and Dallas Wings. Thus, with life giving her a second chance, fans are eager to see how she utilizes it.
